Guest rooms are set within charming cottages across the lodge grounds, and they feel tranquil and relaxing. Each room is adorned with bright Maasai murals, and there is an inviting seating area in every room too, as well as the comfortable bed and en suite bathroom. Simply relax, or try to spot wildlife on the private veranda.

Rooms either contain one king-size bed, two queen-size beds, or triple beds.

Named after nearby Mt Kilimanjaro’s tallest peak, the Kibo Restaurant serves a delicious and varied menu of international and local cuisine. You can even enjoy views of its namesake peak whilst you eat. For al fresco dining, head to the scenic Mawenzi Terrace for buffet style food and barbecue, or you can enjoy breakfast here as you soak in the views.

There are also several bars, each with a unique character. The Mawenzi Bar is framed by a huge fireplace, and features beautiful Maasai crafts. For incredible 360° over the property and the surrounding landscapes, head to Hemingway’s Bar. It’s the perfect spot for a sundowner and you can often catch sight on striped hyenas, mongooses and Genet cats. For a more relaxed drink, head to the Pool Bar.

The lodge’s swimming pool is the perfect place to cool off in the afternoon, following an exhilarating morning tracking wildlife out in the savannah.

Within the main lobby, you’ll find a Maasai handicraft market where you can pick up a really special souvenir, like traditional beadwork and woodcarvings. If you’ve forgotten anything, you can pick up the essentials here too.

For a unique experience, there is also a planetarium, offering an immersive sky show.

Amboseli Sopa Lodge has a spectacular location, overlooking Mount Kilimanjaro, and there are several ways that you can experience it.

Go on game drives to find the lions, leopards, buffaloes and elephants, amongst plenty of other wildlife. A nature walk is also a splendid way to experience the landscape and spot animals.

For a different perspective, take a hot air balloon ride over Mount Kilimanjaro. A similarly magical experience, enjoy breakfast or dinner in the bush.
