Day 1 - Kalahari Desert (320 kms)
Head south from Windhoek towards the vast plains of the Western Kalahari. Along the way pass by the settlement of Rehoboth and its Baster Community who are descendent of the first settlers to the area.

Day 2 & 3 - Fish River Canyon (350 kms)
Continue through the Karas Region via the small towns of Mariental and Keetmanshoop. This is one of the oldest towns in Namibia and capital of the south. Your journey takes you via isolated hills and endless rocky plains to the Quiver Tree Forest where you will find over 250 of these indigenous aloes in a single area. Travel on to Fish River Canyon with its impressive vistas and interesting flora for a two night stay.
The next day, tour the canyon which at 170km long and an average depth of 550m, is the second largest in the world. The impressive geological landscape dates back many millions of years and not to be missed.

Day 4 - Lüderitz (430 kms)
Travel past the Naute Dam and via the small town of Aus to Lüderitz. En route, you may like to stop at Gaub for the chance to spot the wild horses that survive in the desert.

Day 5 & 6 - Namib Naukluft National Park (125 kms)
This morning visit Kolmanskop just outside of Luderitz – a former diamond mining town which flourished between 1908-1950. Today it feels like stepping back in time with the desert sands having encroached inside the buildings. Continue your journey via the town of Aus, before heading north into the isolated desert landscapes along the foot of the stunning Tiras Mountains.
The next day is free to explore the area. You may like to book a sunrise dune drive and sunset mountain drive with your lodge.

Day 7 & 8 - Sossusvlei (450 kms)
Today travel through the striking vistas of the Namib Desert, the oldest in the world. Your lodge for the next two nights is located in the Sesriem region, the gateway to the famous dunes of Sossusvlei. During this time you may like to visit Duwisib Castle, built in 1907 and reminiscent of German castles.
The next day, visit the famous dunes where you can walk up the ridge for wonderful views and photographs. The best time to visit them is at sunrise when the light paints the dunes shades of red, apricot and purple. Then head to Dead Vlei, a surreal white clay pan surrounded by the monumental dunes and studded with age old Camelthorn trees, before finishing at Sesriem Canyon.

Day 9 - Windhoek (350 kms)
Head back to Windhoek today via the little town of Usakos, once an important supply station for the Windhoek to coast railway. Return your car to the airport or extend your stay in the capital city
