Holidays to Mahé Island 2025 & 2026
Mahé is the largest of the Seychelles Islands, most recognisable by its tall granite peaks, covered by lush green forests, and the soft, sandy beaches that are dotted around its coastline. Mahé is home to the laid-back capital, Victoria, and the Seychelles International Airport.
When is the best time to visit Mahé Island?
Being an equatorial island, Mahé benefits from a warm tropical climate all year round. The most popular times to enjoy a Mahé Island holiday are between March and May as well as October and November, when the trade winds are transitioning. During these periods winds are lighter, there are fewer showers and calmer seas. However, even during the wettest months of January and February, temperatures remain warm and rainfall is usually limited to afternoon showers.
Where is the best place to stay on Mahé Island?
Mahé Island is blessed with some of the best hotels and resorts in the Seychelles. There is something to choose for everyone, including private guesthouses and larger resort hotels. The majority of resorts are towards the northern end of the island with easy access to Victoria and the airport.
- Story Seychelles: Tucked away on the beautiful Beau Vallon Beach, Story Seychelles feels like a little slice of barefoot luxury. It’s the perfect spot if you want a laid-back beachfront escape but still be within easy reach of local restaurants and island life.
- Constance Ephelia: A large, stylish resort set between two of Mahé’s most stunning beaches, surrounded by lush tropical greenery. There’s loads to do here — from kayaking through mangroves to relaxing in the spa — making it ideal for both couples and families.
- Carana Beach Hotel: A boutique hideaway with just 40 chalets, each with sea views and a lovely relaxed vibe. It feels really personal and peaceful — perfect if you’re looking for a small, intimate hotel right on a quiet stretch of beach.
