On arrival in Cape Town, you will be greeted and transferred to your hotel. Get settled in after your flight and ease yourself into the ‘Mother City’ with a relaxed stroll around the waterfront, taking in the harbour and mountain backdrop. Spend the next two days exploring Cape Town and the surrounding area. Spend your first day taking in the city, starting with the iconic Table Mountain. Ride the Cableway, a rotating cable car that carries you to the summit for panoramic views of the city, the Atlantic coast, and Robben Island. Weather permitting, it is best visited early in the day, as cloud cover can occasionally close the cableway.

Back in the city, wander the colourful streets of Bo-Kaap before heading to the V&A Waterfront for shopping, harbour views, and plenty of food options. As the sun goes down, head to Signal Hill or a rooftop bar to watch the sunset paint Table Mountain gold.

For your second full day, venture out of the city, with a choice of excursions to suit your pace. Take a ferry to Robben Island for a moving and historic tour of the former prison that once held Nelson Mandela, offering a deeper insight into South Africa’s past. Alternatively, head down to the Cape Peninsula, following the dramatic Chapman’s Peak Drive to Boulders Beach, where you can get up close to the resident colony of African penguins. Continue on to Cape Point and the Cape of Good Hope for sweeping ocean views where the Atlantic meets the Indian Ocean.

If you fancy something a little more indulgent, take a tour to the Cape Winelands, visiting Stellenbosch or Franschhoek to sample some of South Africa’s finest wines amid historic Cape Dutch estates.

This morning you’ll be met at the hotel and transferred to the airport to catch your flight to Hoedspruit in Greater Kruger. On arrival, you’ll be collected and transferred to Garonga Safari Camp for your safari stay. Keep your eyes open for wildlife on the way to the camp. Garonga Safari Camp sits within the Greater Makalali Private Game Reserve, in the Limpopo province of South Africa, west of Kruger National Park. As a private reserve, your guides can take you off-road rather than sticking to fixed tracks, getting you closer to the action than you could at the Kruger National Park.
