About your safari lodge

Just one hour’s drive from Port Elizabeth, the malaria free Lalibela Game Reserve spans 10,500 hectares and offers a great diversity of wildlife including the Big 5 and other predators like cheetah, hyena and lynx. The large areas of savannah grassland sustain sizable herds of plains game including zebra, wildebeest, blesbuck and eland, which in turn support a healthy lion population.

Game drives are conducted in the early morning and again in the late afternoon to coincide with when wildlife is most active. In between safari outings, guests can enjoy their lodge’s facilities and the solitude of the bush.

Mark’s Camp is a family-friendly lodge offering eight stone and thatch chalets, decorated in a relaxed Pan-African style. In front of the lodge there is a large waterhole which attracts regular sightings of antelope, giraffe, elephant and sometimes predators coming for a drink, whilst all around camp there is an abundance of birdlife. Mark’s Camp has an outdoor dining boma for fireside dinners as well as a cozy indoor dining area.

Children between two and seven can go out on special shorter game drives accompanied by their own ranger and child minder, whilst those above eight may join the adults. Between game drives, there are lots of fun activities to keep younger ones entertained including rhino t-shirt painting and making African masks. Children can also enjoy their own swimming pool and are catered for with earlier meal times and special menus for those under eight years.
