Animal encounters to raise your heartbeat, scenic vistas to delight the eye and unique experiences that leave you longing for more. The very essence of romance can be found in South Africa.
At FREEDOM, we’ve been designing tailor made honeymoons for over 20 years. Whether you and your partner are beach lovers, foodies, wildlife enthusiasts or all three, we’ll create for you an African adventure you’ll never forget.
And don’t keep your honeymoon a secret! Your personal Travel Consultant will need to let the resorts and safari lodges we work with know, so you don’t miss out on the free wine, flowers and room upgrades many of them like to offer newlywed guests.
Exploring Cape Town & The Southern Coast
The southernmost city on the African mainland has a vibrancy and diversity matched by few places in the world. It’s a popular starting destination for a South African honeymoon, with historical and cultural sites to explore together, as well as great bars and restaurants to enjoy each other’s time.
Overlooking the ‘Mother City’ is the majestic Table Mountain, which you can climb in around two hours or gently ascend by cable car. In the neighbourhoods of Seapoint, Clifton and Camps Bay you’ll find gorgeous beaches. Further down the Cape Peninsular you can meet a colony of penguins at Boulders Beach and see the waves crash against the cliffs at the Cape of Good Hope.
Inland is the world-renowned Cape Winelands, where you can choose to stay on a luxury estate, such as the Lanzerac Wine Estate, and enjoy complimentary wine tasting in a beautiful setting. On South Africa’s southern coast is the seaside town of Hermanus, from which you can spot southern right whales between July and November, and Knysna, the midpoint of the Garden Route, famous for its brilliant blue lagoon.

Kruger National Park & Indian Ocean Escapes
A Kruger safari followed by an Indian Ocean beach resort makes an unbeatable honeymoon combination.
South Africa’s premier National Park offers some of the finest safari experiences in the world. It is home to over half of all rhino on the African continent, as well as elephant, lion, buffalo and leopard, the other of the ‘Big Five’.
Kruger boasts a stunning range of five star game lodges, with private plunge pools and spa treatments to enjoy between morning and afternoon game drives.
The resorts of the Seychelles, Mauritius and Mozambique, easily reached from Kruger via Johannesburg, have private beaches, with clear waters and soft sands, to relax and enjoy each other’s company.

Elsewhere in Africa…
Neighbouring Botswana and Zimbabwe also boast superb wildlife viewing opportunities, at Chobe and Hwange National Parks in particular. On the Zimbabwe and Zambia border is the thundering Victoria Falls, which you can choose to soar above in a helicopter.
Further north in Kenya and Tanzania you can search for the ‘Big Five’ in the Masai Mara or Serengeti, or the endangered mountain gorilla in the forests of landlocked Uganda and Rwanda.
