In 1969, 36 farm owners merged their land, which became the 60,000 area that is Klaserie Private Nature Reserve. Situated within the Greater Kruger region, and sharing an unfenced boundary with the National Park, all manner of wildlife pass freely between them.

Klaserie Private Nature Reserve offers remarkable biodiversity. It is home to all of the ‘Big 5’ safari animals: lion, leopard, elephant, bufallo and rhino, alongside giraffe, hyena, cheetah, zebra and more.

Where is Klaserie Nature Reserve?

The reserve is situated on the western boundary of Kruger National Park. It’s within the Limpopo Province of South Africa and Klaserie sits adjacent to the popular Timbavati Private Game Reserve.

Getting to Klaserie Private Nature Reserve

Travelling by road, Klaserie is around five to six hours away from Johannesburg. It is easy enough to self drive, as the route is well marked and the roads are in good condition.

Alternatively, to get to Klaserie Nature Reserve by air, the neared airport is Hoedspruit Eastgate Airport, which is about an hour’s transfer from the reserve. There are several airlines that operate daily services from Johannesburg and Cape Town.

Can you self drive in Klaserie Private Nature Reserve?

Guests are allowed to self drive to their accommodation, travelling along marked roads. However, game drives must be led by experienced rangers.
