A three hour drive from Johannesburg Airport, the magnificent Waterberg region of Limpopo Province offers a unique wilderness game experience devoid of crowds. A beautiful landscape of mountain gorges, crystal clear streams and rolling bushveld hills is complimented by an unrivalled natural biodiversity which has led it to being awarded World Biosphere status by UNESCO. The region sustains over 40 species of game including white rhino, sable antelope and leopard.

Activities are tailored to the guest with no fixed times and include the traditional game drive in the reserve with evenings using a spotlight to find elusive animals such as aardvark and bush baby. There is also the unique opportunity of game viewing by horseback catering to all abilities, whilst walking safaris focus on the smaller creatures, tracking animals through the bush and learning about the medicinal properties of various plants. For the more energetic, guided walks can be arranged in the reserve.

Ant’s Hill is built on the edge of a cliff and offers breath-taking views across the Waterberg and over a waterhole visited by a variety of game. The main lodge boasts a spacious living area and dining room with a fireplace, and there is a large deck overhanging the gorge offering great evening sundowners. Set amongst boulders there is a heated swimming pool offers fabulous views across the reserve.

Each of the five charming cottages is uniquely designed. The Superior Standard rooms (Eagles Nest) are located above the main lodge and have a balcony offering wonderful views.
