A three hour drive from Johannesburg Airport, the magnificent Waterberg region of Limpopo Province offers a unique wilderness game experience devoid of crowds. A beautiful landscape of mountain gorges, crystal clear streams and rolling bushveld hills is complimented by an unrivalled natural biodiversity which has led it to being awarded World Biosphere status by UNESCO. The region sustains over 40 species of game including white rhino, sable antelope and leopard.

Activities are tailored to the guest with no fixed times and include the traditional game drive in the reserve with evenings using a spotlight to find elusive animals such as aardvark and bush baby. There is also the unique opportunity of game viewing by horseback catering to all abilities, whilst walking safaris focus on the smaller creatures, tracking animals through the bush and learning about the medicinal properties of various plants. For the more energetic, guided walks can be arranged in the reserve.

Ants Nest is built around the original family homestead and overlooks a waterhole visited by a wide variety of game. There are eight rooms – six in the main house and two in a private setting all decorated in a homely style. The lodge enjoys lovely views down the valley and of the surrounding plains where rhino and other game frequently graze close to the lodge. The 15m heated swimming pool is set amongst the extensive lawn and is the ideal place to cool off after an active day.

Standard (Davidson) rooms are located on the ground floor of the original homestead. There is a private veranda and a cozy lounge with fireplace shared with the next room.
