Sharing an unfenced border with the Kruger, the Timbavati Nature Reserve boasts consistent sightings of the Big 5 and here you will find Bateleur Safari Camp. Offering seven safari units with thatched roofs and canvas sides, the contemporary rustic decor suits adults and families alike. As an eco-friendly camp, it is run on solar power but provides modern conveniences such as charge points for cameras and en suite facilities.

The main part of the camp comprises of a covered, open-sided deck with lounge and dining area overlooking the riverbed and seasonal waterhole. There is a swimming pool for guests to cool off in between activities, whilst the boma is the place to relax around the fire and enjoy a braai cooked meal.

During the day, guests can often spot Nyalas, warthogs, bushbuck and more within the camp perimeter, whilst elephants, buffalo and rhino prefer the river bed in front of the camp. Aside from the 4wd game drives, Bateleur has a strong focus on guided bush walks and guests can choose to substitute a game drive for a 3 hour walk, or combine the two by hopping out of the vehicle to pick up a trail on foot. A unique activity offered by the camp is learning about bushcraft and survival which covers skills like wildlife tracking and lighting fires.
