Transfer this morning from your hotel to the airport for the 1 hour 20 minute flight deep into the heart of Ruaha National Park. On arrival at the airstrip, a vehicle from your lodge will be waiting to take you on the 5 minute drive to Jongomero Camp.
Located in the remote southern sector of the park, the camp has a wonderful position on the banks the Jongomero sand river, a natural pathway for animals in search of water. The eight large tented suites are built on raised platforms with a spacious veranda overlooking the riverbed. The camp’s location is perfect for game viewing because of the proximity of the seasonal rivers which draw large numbers of game in search of water. After lunch, head out on a game drive for your first experience of Ruaha’s wide variety of wildlife.

Day 2 – Ruaha National Park
Today enjoy a morning and afternoon game drive to seek out the huge variety of wildlife. Few parks epitomise ‘wild Africa’ like Ruaha with its Great Ruaha River and a rugged landscape studded with iconic baobab trees. Ruaha National Park also holds a special significance as it covers a unique transition zone where the eastern and southern ecosystems merge giving way to an extraordinary diversity of wildlife.
Here you will find one of the largest elephant populations of any African park and large numbers of buffalo, giraffe, zebra, eland, lion and leopard. Rarer, creatures such as sable and roan antelope, dik dik and kudus can also be found here and there is Tanzania’s second largest population of wild dog. Game walks are also offered in the drier months and are a fascinating way to learn about the smaller animals, birdlife, insects and flora.

Day 3 – Fly to Dar es Salaam
Time permitting this morning, head out on one last game drive, before transferring to the airstrip for your flight back to Dar es Salaam. For the perfect add on, ask about flying to the exotic spice island of Zanzibar or transferring to the secluded mainland beach resort of Ras Kutani.
