Your Itinerary

Day 1 - The Selous

Board your light aircraft at Dar Es Salaam for the 45 minute flight to Stiegler’s airstrip right in the heart of The Selous. On arrival you’ll meet up with your ranger and take the short drive to your Luxury Camp. In the afternoon take your first game drive where you may be lucky enough to spot lion or elephant along with many other animals. In the evening, return to your camp for dinner and fall asleep to the sounds of the bush.

Selous Serena Camp: Set amidst dense indigenous forests with 360-degree views over the surrounding bush. The 12 widely spaced tents have private viewing decks, elegant Victorian style bathrooms, and luxurious decor including crystal chandeliers, opulent rugs and rosewood furniture.

Upgrade Option: Mivumo River Lodge stands high on the banks of the Rufiji River, with glorious views down to the plunging torrents of Stiegler’s Gorge. The 12 luxurious timber chalets have high vaulted ceilings and picture windows, whilst outside there is a private viewing deck and plunge pool.

Day 2 - The Selous

Spend two days enjoying the vast, pristine wilderness in open sided vehicles. At over twice the size of the Serengeti, The Selous or Nyerere as it is now called, is the largest national park in Africa. The landscape comprises of rolling savannah, lakes, rivers and deltas and is home to the largest concentration of elephants in the world, as well as numerous hippo, wild dog and of course the big cats.

Day 4 - Stone Town

After breakfast make your way to the airstrip for your flight to Zanzibar, where you will be met on arrival and transferred to the historic Serena Hotel in Stone Town.  Located in the heart of Stone Town, it’s the perfect location for exploring the maze of narrow streets and soaking up the atmosphere.

Day 5 - Stone Town

This morning you have a guided tour of Stone Town which will bring the fascinating history of the island to life. You’ll visit the slave market and see sultan’s palaces, Portuguese forts, ancient dhow harbours and bright bazaars as well as having time to browse the local shops and perhaps pick up a souvenir.

Meals: Breakfast and dinner

Day 6 - Dar Es Salaam and farewell

Your adventure ends today with a transfer to the airport for your flight to Dar Es Salaam, or talk to your Freedom consultant about extending your stay at a Zanzibar beach resort.
