Day 1: Arrive in New York
Arrive in New York for the start of your big adventure. After checking into your hotel, you have the rest of the day and this evening to explore your surroundings. Tomorrow morning, you will need to rise early to meet with your guide, you will be hitting the road at 7.30 am, so get a good nights sleep.
Day 2 & 3: New York – Philadelphia – Washington DC
First stop is Philadelphia, or ‘Philly’ if you want to be down with the locals. Check out the Liberty Bell, eat a famous and oh-so-delicious Philly cheesesteak sandwich and climb the steps from the movie ‘Rocky’! Cast your eyes on Independence Hall where brave men gathered at the Pennsylvania State House and defied the King of England, an event which helped shape the US Constitution. When it comes to DC’s museums ‘Land of the Free’ is spot on and the sensational Smithsonian Museums are well worth a visit for all the culture vultures amongst you.
Day 4: Lancaster Amish Community Visit
Visit an Amish community where a local guide will show you a unique way of life which hasn’t changed in over 200 years. Be prepared to feel completely humbled as you see people who live for family life and keep things simple with no mod-cons; there’s no Wi-Fi here! With an included tour with a local Amish guide, you can delve deeper into their community and way of life. Return to modern life via a scenic drive through rolling countryside that inspired a nation to fight for its freedom. Tonight, your home is under a million stars, where you can settle into a simple life of your very own.
Day 5: Niagara Falls
Niagara Falls is three waterfalls all rolled into one, so you can only imagine how epic it will be to witness this natural wonder with your own eyes. From the edge of Lake Ontario, you’ll see the sensation of crashing water is stupendous and the noise just as immense. For the ultimate front row seat, hop aboard the included ‘Maid of the Mist’ cruise and get up close to the majestic falls… just be prepared to get a little wet!
Day 6 & 7: Boston
With two nights in ‘Bean Town’ you’ll have plenty of time to explore! Relive the revolution as you walk along the Freedom Trail, visiting historical sites that uncover America’s significant past. Lounge and watch the locals on Boston Common, then pop across to Faneuil Hall or Quincy Market for delicious local food stalls. To top off a great day in Boston, why not try the local taste sensation ‘Daddy’s Dough’, a fried dough delicacy which the locals swear by and so do we! Boston is famous for its baseball and football teams so try to catch the Red Sox or New England Patriots in action, then take your pick from hundreds of Irish bars dotted around the city or head to the famous ‘Cheers’ bar for a cheeky beverage.
Day 8: Boston – Depart New York
From one great city to another, make sure you give yourself an extra day or two after the tour to head into New York City and explore the sights and sounds. From the bright lights of Times Square to the quirky neighbourhoods of Brooklyn, this city has so much to offer everyone. Splurge along Fifth Avenue, hit the top of the Empire State Building or soak up the trendy, laid-back vibe of Greenwich Village before heading home. For the ultimate slice of New York, take a locally-guided city tour, jump on a bike tour through Central Park or head to the skies on an incredible helicopter flight for an aerial view of the city.
