On Beale Street, you can wander between bars with your drinks, so you can listen to different live bands and discover the varied music genres that have been influenced by Memphis artists.

You may even be able to catch a performance from the iconic Beale Street Flippers, an impressive group of acrobats that often get the crowd involved in their performances.

Make sure to sample the delicious barbecue food that Memphis is known for too!

On Beale Street, you can wander between bars with your drinks, so you can listen to different live bands and discover the varied music genres that have been influenced by Memphis artists.

One of the most famous recording studios in the world, Sun Studio is where Elvis was first scouted back in 1953. It’s also played a key role in the careers of stars like Johnny Cash, B.B. King, Carl Perkins and Roy Orbison. We’ve included tickets for a Sun Studio Tour, where you’ll be led by a local musician as you listen to outtakes from sessions, discover fascinating memorabilia and gain an insight into the profound inplace that music has had on Memphis.

After exploring Sun Studio, hop on a shuttle to the Rock ‘n’ Soul Museum, where you can learn about the musical pioneers who shaped the rock and soul genres.

In the evening, there is no shortage of fantastic restaurants boasting famous Southern hospitality. You may like to dine at ‘Beauty Shop’ which was once the hairdressers where Priscilla Presley got her beehive perfected. Now, you can enjoy dinner sitting under a vintage hairdryer. After dinner, you may like to head down to the mighty Mississippi River. Each evening, from sunset until 10pm, the Big River Crossing and Hernando de Soto bridges burst into colour for a mesmerising light display.

Explore the famous Graceland Mansion, home to the ‘King of Rock ‘n’ Roll’ for over 20 years. Follow in the footsteps of Elvis Presley in the ultimate pilgrimage, getting a unique insight into his life and discovering the eclectic interiors of his pride and joy. Learn more about how a small-town boy gained superstardom in a story that embodies the American Dream.

After exploring Graceland, you may wish to visit the nearby National Civil Rights Museum that tells the powerful story of the Civil Rights movement. Housed in the Lorraine Motel, the site where activist Dr. Martin Luther King Jr was assasinated, you can learn about the couragous figures who powered the movement.

For a unique experience this afternoon, head to the Peabody Hotel for the iconic daily duck march. Each day at 5pm, the hotel’s resident ducks are guided along a red carpet, making their way from their spot in the lobby’s fountain into a lift to take them up to their penthouse. The morning duck march also takes place each day at 11am.

In the evening, a music and dinner cruise on the Mississippi River is the perfect way to soak in the city and enjoy some blues and delicious Memphis-style barbecue. Alternatively, you may be able to catch a Memphis Grizzlies basketball game during your stay, experiencing the electric atmosphere of American sports.
