East Coast USA Road Trips
America’s East Coast is perfect for a road trip, with plenty to see and do, comfortable roads for driving and more than manageable distances.
What are the Most Iconic East Coast USA Road Trips?
With its iconic cities, rich history and diverse landscapes, it’s no surprise that East Coast USA boasts some of America’s most iconic road trips.
The Blue Ridge Parkway
This 469 mile scenic driving route connects Rockfish Gap, Virginia, with Cherokee, North Carolina. Traversing forest-clad mountain ranges and hazy-blue ridgelines, the route is dotted with pull-overs and viewing points, and there are plenty of places to park up and go for a hike too.
As the Blue Ridge Parkway begins close to Shenandoah National Park and travels all the way to Great Smokey Mountains National Park, it is managed by the National Park Service, and the road and the walking trails are superbly maintained. Commercial vehicles are prohibited, so you’re free to take it at a slower pace and simply enjoy the journey.
New York to Niagara Falls
Discover the diversity of New York state as you travel from ‘The City That Never Sleeps’, through the striking Hudson Valley, climbing up into the Catskills Mountains and past the Finger Lakes, before you get to captivating Niagara Falls.
The Capital Region
Uncover the figures and events that shaped America as we know it today on a Capital Region road trip. Begin in the US capital of Washington D.C., where you can explore its monuments and museums, then visit ‘Colonial Williamsburg’, where you can immerse yourself in the history and discover daily life in the 18th-century. Explore Philadelphia, where the Declaration of Independence and the US Constitution were adopted, and home of the Liberty Bell and then learn about military history in Gettysburg.
