About the 2026 Football World Cup
America, Canada and Mexico will host the 2026 Men’s Football World Cup, across 16 cities, creating a continent wide tournament. Here is what to expect from each region:
East Coast USA
Host Cities: Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Miami and Atlanta
New York’s MetLife Stadium will host the 2026 World Cup Final and with direct flights connecting the East Coast of America with the UK, you can be in the iconic cities of New York, Boston, Washington D.C. or Philadelphia in just over 7 hours. There are regular domestic flights between each, though travelling by Amtrak train offers a great alternative to hop between matches.
From New York or Boston why not take some time out from the football to explore Cape Cod and New England, by car or American RV?
Flights to Miami take around 9.5 hours. In between games you can hit the beach, explore the Everglades and Florida Keys, or head north to Orlando’s famous theme parks and attractions.
West Coast USA
Host Cities: Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Houston, Dallas and Kansas City
The USA team will kick-off their World Cup campaign in the So-Fi Stadium in Los Angeles on the 12th June, and will also play a group game in Seattle.
California, on America’s west coast, will welcome fans in Los Angeles and San Francisco. Further north in Washington state, Seattle offers a cooler climate, more familiar to England football fans!
Spend some time between matches exploring the amazing coastal scenery along Highway 1, or spectacular landscapes of Yosemite National Park, Death Valley and the Grand Canyon. To top up on the sunshine head south to the beaches by San Diego.
Dallas will host a record nine matches throughout the 2026 World Cup, including a semi-final. In Texas you could combine an authentic USA ranch stay with a game in Dallas or Houston.
Canada
Host Cities: Vancouver, Edmonton
As joint hosts Canada will begin their group stage matches in Toronto, followed by two games in Vancouver.
With the Rocky Mountains on one side and Pacific Ocean on the other, Vancouver is surrounded by the stunning landscapes Canada is best known for. Watch the sunset over Stanley Park from the one of the marina bars, before heading to the lively entertainment of Downtown; perhaps grabbing a bite to eat in trendy Gastown.
The other side of the Canadian Rockies lies Edmonton, the capital of Alberta. The city is well known for outdoor sports, so was an easy choice to host matches in the 2026 Football World Cup. Between games you can learn more about the indigenous population at the living history museum or head to Calgary, home of the Stampede, the world’s most famous rodeo.
Mexico
Host Cities: Mexico City, Monterrey and Guadalajara
In 2026 Mexico becomes the very first country to hold three football world cups, having previously hosted the tournament in 1970 and 1986. The Azteca Stadium in Mexico City will also host the first group game on the 11th June, whilst the co-hosts will play one game in Guadalajara as well as two matches in Mexico City.
The past and present collide in the capital Mexico City. Beyond the famous Azteca football stadium, fans will be able to discover modern skyscrapers sitting alongside historic churches and museums. If you can drag yourself away from the stylish bars and restaurants of the city centre, the incredible Teotihuacan Aztec pyramids are around 1 hour northeast of the city.
Guadalajara is the cultural centre of Mexico, considered by most to be the home of mariachi music. Football fans will be able to visit the ancient Guachimontones pyramids and historic Hospicio Cabana, but probably the largest attraction will be the town of Tequila, where the spirit originated and is still produced today!
