With LAX airport being a major hub for many international airlines, it is relatively quick and easy to fly to Los Angeles. There are direct flights daily from the UK. Los Angeles is also well connected with other American cities, making it a great base for exploring the USA and watching the football world cup.
Which Los Angeles Stadium is used for the world cup?
The SoFi Stadium, in Inglewood, is hosting all eight of the World Cup football matches coming to Los Angeles. The stadium is usually the home to the Los Angeles Rams NFL franchise and has a capacity of 70,000 spectators. Inglewood is just five miles east of the LAX airport and around 12 miles from both Downtown Los Angeles, and Santa Monica Beach.
How do I get tickets for the 2026 Football World Cup?
General ticket sales for the 2026 World Cup will be released exclusively via FIFA, and should only be purchased via official channels. Freedom Destinations cannot include match day tickets in holiday packages.
What is the best way to get to the SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles?
There are various parking lots around the stadium, and Inglewood offers an offer-site park and ride option as well, so driving to the stadium is possible, but allow extra time for congestion around the stadium.
It is possible to to take the Metro C-Line to the Hawthorne/Lennox Station, and the 7X GTrans bus runs to and from Gateway Transit Centre. It is also possible to use the Torrance Transit bus to get to the SoFi stadium, depending on where you are staying in Los Angeles.
Taxis and Uber operate widely throughout Los Angeles.
Where is best place to stay in Los Angeles for the 2026 Football World Cup?
Whilst the Inglewood area does have some hotels and accommodation, it is likely that these will be expensive and become fully booked very early. With transport to the stadium relatively easy, then it is possible to stay in most places around the greater Los Angeles area and still be part of the football atmosphere. The airport is close by for those not staying long, but for those combining the football with a holiday, we would recommend staying in Santa Monica or Venice to be on the coast, or Hollywood to be closer to the attractions. For those interested in visiting Disneyland as well as the football then Anaheim is just under an hour from the stadium.
Will there be a Fanzone and other events around Los Angeles?
The city is planning a Fanzone and other events near to the stadium on matchdays. There will also be other celebrations around Los Angeles near to the 4th July weekend. These will be announced by the city closer to the matchdays.
What is the expected weather in Los Angeles throughout the tournament?
Los Angeles in June and July typically experiences warm and dry weather, with temperatures ranging from 21°C to 29°C (70°F to 85°F). It is advisable to pack light clothing and stay hydrated.
What else can I do in Los Angeles away from the football?
Hollywood, Los Angeles is the movie capital of the world. As well as walking along the Walk of Fame, you can also go behind the scenes of one of the large studios, or attend one of the movie based theme parks like Disneyland and Universal Studios. For something different you could always join a movie stars home tour!
