Both British Airways and American Airlines fly direct to Philadelphia from London Heathrow. Other airlines also route via other American cities with a short layover. Philadelphia is well connected with domestic flights between the east and west coasts. Philadelphia is also connected with other cities up and down the east coast by the Amtrak Train Service.

Which Philadelphia Stadium is used for the World Cup?

The Lincoln Field Stadium in South Philadelphia, is the home of the Philadelphia Eagles NFL Franchise. The stadium has a capacity of 69,000 and will host six matches in the 2026 Football World Cup.

What is the best way to get to the Lincoln Field Stadium in Philadelphia?

There aren’t many hotel options in South Philadelphia, close to the Lincoln Field Stadium, so it is expected that most football fans will stay elsewhere in the city and travel to the stadium on matchdays.

The Lincoln Field Stadium is just off Highway 95, just to the north of the Delaware River, so it is possible to drive to the stadium, however if you are staying in the city centre, then it is better to use public transport. There is a direct link from downtown Philadelphia to the stadium via the SEPTA Broad Street subway line. There is also a bus service (Route C) that follows a similar route.

How do I get tickets for the 2026 Football World Cup?

General ticket sales for the 2026 World Cup will be released exclusively via FIFA, and should only be purchased via official channels. Freedom Destinations cannot include match day tickets in holiday packages.

Where is best place to stay in Philadelphia for the 2026 Football World Cup?

Most football fans will be staying in the city centre where there is a lot of choice for hotels. Although it is possible to stay anywhere across the city, the most popular hotels are likely to be close to the subway/metro network, so that it is easy to get to and from the stadium on matchdays. Hotels like the Holiday Inn Express in Midtown, the Canopy by Hilton and the Aloft Hotel in Downtown are all within walking distance of the public transport network.

What is the expected weather in Philadelphia throughout the tournament?

Philadelphia in June and July typically experiences warm weather, with temperatures ranging from 21°C to 29°C (70°F to 85°F). It is advisable to keep a jacket with you to accommodate varying weather conditions.

What else can I do in Philadelphia away from the football?

Philadelphia is at the heart of American history. The city is where the Declaration of Independence and the US Constitution were signed. You can learn more with a visit to Independence Hall. Be sure to view the Liberty Bell, a symbol of American Freedom. Movie buffs can recreate the famous seen from Rocky, but running up the steps to the Philadelphia Museum of Art. The exhibitions inside the museum are worth some of your time too. Elsewhere you can walk through the Reading Terminal Market and enjoy some of the delicious food available. Ultimately you will have to break that diet and try the famous Philly Cheesesteak whilst you are in town.

Philadelphia is a good base to explore the surrounding regions. Pennsylvania offers some beautiful scenery, including Rickets Glen State Park and the Pocono Mountains. New York City and Washington DC are close neighbours to the north and south. Both are easily reached by train from Philadelphia.
