How To Watch The New York Yankees

All you need to know about including official tickets to the New York Yankees in your next visit to New York.

Where do the New York Yankees play?

Yankee Stadium is located at One East 161st Street in the Bronx, New York. It sits in the heart of one of the city’s most vibrant boroughs and is far more accessible than many visitors expect as you are just a short subway ride from the bright lights of Midtown Manhattan.

What is the best way to get to Yankee Stadium?

The subway is by far the easiest and most popular way to reach the stadium on game day. The No. 4 train (East Side) and the D train (Sixth Avenue) both stop at 161st Street, the Yankee Stadium station, located on East 161st Street and River Avenue. From Midtown, the journey takes around 26 minutes.

Metro-North Railroad also offers a convenient alternative, with a 15-minute ride from Grand Central Station, and extra services running before and after Yankees games. We would always recommend the subway or train over driving as parking in the area can be expensive and post-game traffic is best avoided!

When does the New York Yankees season take place?

The regular baseball season runs from late March through to late September, giving you a wide window to catch a New York Yankees home game as part of your New York holiday.

The Yankees play 81 home games spread across the summer months. The ticket demand varies across the season with summer evening games having a particularly special feel, and rivalry fixtures against the New York Mets and clashes with the Boston Red Sox especially popular and well worth seeking out if your travel dates allow.

Can I choose my seats in Yankee Stadium?

Yes you can. Yankee Stadium seats over 50,000, making it one of the largest ballparks in Major League Baseball, with seating options ranging from affordable upper-deck views to some of the most exclusive premium experiences in sport.

To make things simple we have four different seating options for you to choose from:

  • Field Level: Middle Rows Baseline
  • Grandstand Level: High Rows Outfield
  • Main Level: Middle Rows Outfield
  • Terrace Level: Low Rows Baseline

How long does a New York Yankees game last?

In recent seasons, New York Yankees baseball games have averaged around 2½ hours. As a rule of thumb, we would suggest planning for around three hours to make sure you can soak up the full experience, including the pre-game atmosphere and the post-game buzz. If the game goes into extra innings or there are rain delays, it can run longer, so bear this in mind when planning the rest of your day.

What food and drink can I buy at Yankee Stadium?

There is far more on offer than the traditional peanuts and hot dogs! The stadium is home to a wide range of food outlets and returning fan-favourite restaurants, with options including gourmet burgers, BBQ, fried chicken, halal food, and much more. Alcoholic drinks are available throughout the stadium, though you must be 21 or older to purchase alcohol, and valid ID is required regardless of age.

What should I wear to a New York Yankees baseball game?

There is no dress code as such, as comfort is the priority. Wearing a Yankees jersey or cap is always a fun way to get into the spirit and you will find plenty of official merchandise available inside the stadium.

We would recommend layers, as evening games can get cool, and comfortable shoes are preferable given the amount of walking around the concourse. On sunny afternoon games, sunscreen and a hat are well worth packing, and a shower-proof jacket if the forecast is not so good.
