Your Itinerary

Day 1 - Welcome to Los Angeles

Today you will arrive in Los Angeles or the ‘City of Angels’ as it is also known. Head to your chosen hotel to check in and then it’s your time to start exploring the city. Shop till you drop in Beverly Hills, walk amongst the stars in Hollywood, or relax on the sandy shores of Santa Monica Beach, the choice is yours.

Day 2 - Ensenada (200 miles)

After breakfast it’s time to pick up our motorcycle from the depot. Then you’re on the road cruising south along the California coastline to the border at Tijuana, Mexico. About an hour after you have entered Mexico you will reach your destination for today, the bustling port town of Ensenada. This evening watch the sunset over Ensenada Bay and it won’t take you long to realize you are on the cusp of something special.

Day 3 - Catavina (229 miles)

Head south today on Mexico Highway 1 leaving the busy border towns behind as you ride south. Dive deeper into Baja where Cirio trees and giant Cardon cacti begin to appear alongside the road. Enter the Vizcaino Desert, one of the most fascinating desert regions on this continent, and experience expansive views of boulder formations, rugged hills and dense desert vegetation. Arrive in Catavina just in time to watch the desert sunset behind huge boulders and Cardon cacti.

Day 4 - San Ignacio (236 miles)

Today you cross the state line from Baja Norte into Baja Sur. You will notice a change in landscape as you ride over several 3,000 foot summits, past flat topped volcanic cones and cactus covered hills into the charming pueblo San Ignacio, an authentic desert oasis located at the bottom of a wide arroyo with date palms and a natural spring fed pond.

Day 5 - Loreto (170 miles)

Ahead of you this morning is the massive ‘Volcan Las Tres Virgenes’ which tells the origin of recent lava flows around you. Descend Devils Grade, seven miles of switchbacks that take you down to the warm waters of the Sea of Cortez. Wind along the shores of beautiful Bahia Conception, one further scenic delight of Baja California, with deep-blue waters, volcanic islands and isolated beaches. In the afternoon you will reach Loreto which is the oldest Spanish settlement along the West Coast. The town offers a picturesque central plaza, shopping and a selection of excellent restaurants.

Day 6 - La Paz (225 miles)

Continue today through the desert on Highway 1 through Ciudad Constitucion, a good place to stop for lunch. The afternoon ride will take you east across the broad desert expanse over to the coast of the Sea of Cortez and Loreto. Loreto was the departure point from which Junipero Serra launched his northward quest in 1769 to establish a chain of missions in Alta California.

Day 7 - Cabo San Lucas (134 miles)

Under the shadow of Cerro del Venado, roll into San Jose del Cabo and down the coast of Bahia San Lucas which was a favourite hiding place for pirates who laid in wait for Spanish treasure ships in the 16th and 17th century. Today your destination is the popular resort town of Cabo San Lucas. Just before arriving in Cabo you’ll get a view of ‘Land’s End,’ the southernmost tip of the Baja peninsula!

Day 8 - Cabo San Lucas

Today you have the chance to relax on the beautiful white beaches and enjoy the tranquil city of Cabo San Lucas.

Day 9 - Los Barriles (70 miles)

This morning you have some time to do some shopping or take in an early morning tour before you need to get on the road. From Cabo, ride along the coastal highway to the town of San Jose del Cabo where you might like to stop for lunch and visit the historic city. The city centre offers many art galleries as well as the Mission San Jose del Cabo founded in 1730. Continue your journey onwards to the beach front resort of Los Barriles!

Day 10 - Loreto (283 miles)

Take Highway 1 through Ciudad Constitucio, before heading east this afternoon across the broad desert expanse over to the coast of the Sea of Cortez and Loreto. Founded in 1697 by Jesuit Missionaries, Loreto is the oldest Spanish settlement on the Baja peninsula. On your way, you will be riding some of the best twisty roads through the mountains of Sierra de la Laguna to the picturesque historic mining town of El Triunfo and one of the best coffee shops in Baja.

Day 11 - Guerrero Negro (259 miles)

Continue north on Mexico Highway 1 with Conception Bay on your right. It’s worth stopping at one of the beautiful sandy coves where you can take a dip in the warm waters. Back on the road, ride via Santa Rosalia to San Ignacio where you can take an ice cream break in the town plaza. From San Ignacio continue across the barren Vizcaino desert to the town of Guerrero Negro, just south of the Baja California Sur state border. The area around Guerrero Negro is part of the El Vizcaino Biosphere Reserve, designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1993, which encompasses bays, lagoons, vast expanses of the Sonoran Desert and the rugged Sierra Mountains. Scammon’s Lagoon is an important breeding and birthing site for the California gray whale.

Day 12 - San Quintin (253 miles)

Your ride continues north on Highway 1 through the vast desert landscape of Valle de los Cirios. The desert is full of a large variety plants including the Dr. Suess-looking Cirio tree. After a lunch stop in Catavina, wind your way through twisty roads back toward the Pacific coast and finally to San Quintin.

Day 13 - Ensenada (131 miles)

Leave the beautiful beach of San Quintin behind and you’re on your way to Ensenada. The port city boasts a scenic setting, pleasant weather, duty free shopping, fine sport fishing and close proximity to the United States. Ensenada is famous for it’s fish tacos and Hussong’s Cantina, Baja’s oldest bar. Enjoy your last evening south of the border.

Day 14 - Los Angeles (227 miles)

Today your trip will take you back into the United States. Take Highway 3 out of Ensenada and enjoy a scenic ride through the vineyards of Valle de Guadalupe towards the Mexico/U.S. border at Tecate. Once back in the US, ride through some great motorcycle roads in the eastern San Diego countryside as you make your way to the coast in San Diego. After a lunch stop head into Los Angeles. It is a bittersweet feeling as it is now time to return your bike to the depot.

Day 15 - Farewell from Los Angeles

After a final night here in the ‘city of angels’ it’s time to make your way to the airport for your return flight to the UK. Of course, you could choose to stay longer to enjoy the sights and sounds of this wonderfully glamourous city.
