Description
Make sure to get an early night, as you’ll be collected at 02:00 for the drive to Mount Batur, to give you time to trek to the summit for sunrise.
Starting your ascent at 1200 metres above sea level, the hike to Mount Batur’s highest point, at 1717 metres, will take between 1.5 and 2 hours. The reward for the early wakeup call is a stunning vista of the surrounding countryside as well as views into the main caldera. After a simple breakfast, you’ll also visit the mountain’s three younger craters and any recent lava flows as you descend.
En route back to your hotel, one further treat is in store; a stop at Toya Bungkah Hot Springs in the village of Penelokan, for a soothing dip in the warm mineral waters that legend has it can cure all sorts of ailments.
