Day 2 – Bako National Park
Today, we will depart for a day tour at Bako National Park, situated on the Maura Tebas peninsular at the mouth of the Sarawak River. It is reached by car and longboat in one and a half hours on a journey that takes you past beautiful nipah palms, coconut plantations and mangrove swamps.
A unique feature of Bako is the way nature has delightfully combined spectacular landscapes of steep coastline cliffs, weather-eroded rock formations and wave-beaten sea stacks. With an abundance of flora, fauna, wildlife and a thriving mangrove swamp, it is a rare place that should please even the most demanding photographer or wildlife and nature enthusiast.
Bako supports several types of distinct vegetation and is home to numerous species of birds, snakes and animals such as proboscis monkeys, long tailed macaques, wild boars, sambar deer and monitor lizards. Sixteen well-demarcated paths within the park can be followed without any difficulty or fear of getting lost.

Day 3 – Semenggoh
After breakfast, depart for Semenggoh Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre, the best place in Sarawak to view semi-wild orangutans, who have been rescued from captivity and trained to survive in the surrounding forest reserve.
The rehabilitated animals roam freely in the rainforest, and often return to the centre at feeding time. Thanks to the successful breeding programme at Semonggok there is a good possibility of experiencing one of the most heart-warming sights in Borneo – an orangutan mother with a young baby.
After visit Semenggoh, travel through countryside, past quaint little towns, villages, paddy fields, and pepper and oil palm plantations to Batang Ai National Park, around 166 miles from Kuching City. The road starts to wind and undulate as you go deeper into the interior. A stop for lunch will be made at Lachau, before arriving in Sri Aman and your overnight accommodation.

Day 4 – Batang Ai National Park
After breakfast depart for Mengkak Longhouse, or similar, by a motorised native longboat. The journey will take you across the lake into the Engkari River, one of the many tributaries flowing into the lake. Enjoy a short cultural performance by the inhabitant of the longhouse followed later on by a blow pipe demonstration.
Lunch will be provided either at the longhouse or by the riverbank and, if weather permits, go for a short jungle walk around the vicinity of the longhouse. Later on in the afternoon return back to Sri Aman via the same route.
