Your Itinerary

Day 1: Shanghai

On arrival in Shanghai transfer to your hotel for a welcome dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Shanghai

Today’s explorations include the peaceful Yu Garden and the atmospheric alleys of the old town. Admire the magnificent colonial architecture with a stroll along the Bund and visit the
fascinating Silk Factory. Sightseeing today involves a full day of touring around the centre of the city including 3-4 hours on foot. In the evening, view the city from the Huangpu River on a panoramic river cruise. Dine on a delicious Shanghainese meal in the evening.

Day 3: Yangtze

Take the morning to see the sights of the ultra-modern Pudong area of the city with its sci-fi skyscrapers, before flying to Yichang to board the Yangtze River cruise vessel for the next four nights.

Day 4: Yangtze

A man-made marvel, the Three Gorges Dam showcases this massive feat of engineering. But as we cruise up stream nature takes over, revealing some of the world’s most dramatic scenery including the Three Gorges themselves. Over the next three days prepare, for one breathtaking panorama after another. Take a trip to the attractive Goddess or Shennong Stream and enjoy shore excursions to the Ghost City of Fengdu or Shibaozhai.

Day 7: Chengdu

Disembarking the cruise vessel, explore old Ciqikou, a district known for its porcelain production during the Ming and Qing dynasties. Ciqikou’s narrow streets are perfect for a morning stroll to admire the historical, traditional architecture. Transfer to Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan Province, where this evening there will be a delicious Sichuan meal to enjoy.

Day 8: Xian

Visit the famous Panda Reserve to see these rare animals being reared in wooded surroundings, reminiscent of their natural habitat. Later, take the bullet train to the former ancient capital of Xian where this evening you will enjoy a traditional dinner and dance.

Day 9: Xian

Today’s highlight is a visit to the fascinating Terracotta Warriors, notice the detail on the statues faces, it is claimed that no two are alike! Visit the workshop of the craftsmen who recreate warriors and watch the skilled production process with a chance to buy a souvenir. Later stroll on the beautifully preserved 14th century city walls that enclose Xian’s old town.

Day 10: Beijing

A fascinating morning includes a visit to the lovely Little Wild Goose Pagoda and the treasures of the Shaanxi Museum. Take time to walk through the atmospheric alleys of the Muslim Quarter which are lined with Islamic food stalls. Fly to Beijing, China’s capital city.

Day 11: Beijing

A full day taking in the highlights of Beijing including Tiananmen Square, Chairman Mao’s Mausoleum and the Forbidden City. Later in the evening is a Chinese acrobatic display.

Day 12: Beijing

Visit the Great Wall and see why it is one of the wonders of the world as you walk along a section marvelling at the engineering feat and admiring the scenery. You will then visit the Jade Museum and then on to admire the idyllic landscapes of the Summer Palace. This evening savour Beijing’s best known delicacy – Peking Duck.

Day 13: Farewell

Transfer to Beijing Airport for your flight to the UK or elsewhere in the region.
