What routes does the Eastern & Oriental Express take?
In 2024, the Eastern & Oriental Express launched new routes, beginning and ending in Singapore and travelling through the heart of Malaysia:
Wild Malaysia: Experience the lush rainforest, spectacular coastlines and characterful towns on an all-encompassing rail tour of Malaysia. Wind your way up from Singapore, visiting Johor Bahru, Taman Negara, Penang Island and Ipoh.
Essence of Malaysia: Travel through lush green landscapes, rice paddies, rural villages and striking coastlines of Western Malaysia, on the stunning Essence of Malaysia route. Departing from and returning to Singapore, the key sights include Kuala Lumpur, Langkawi, Penang Island and Ipoh.
What are the departure dates for the Eastern & Oriental Express?
Both routes are 3 nights long: Depart from Woodlands Station at 15:00 on Day 1, and return at 10:20 on Day 4.
What amenities are available on board the Eastern & Oriental Express?
Dining Carriages – The train boasts two restaurant cars, opulently decorated and serving fine dining Malaysian cuisine, courtesy of star chef André Chiang.
The Piano Bar – Enjoy signature cocktails and the nostalgic melodies of piano from the comfortable and luxurious Piano Bar, offering evening entertainment.

What is the dress code on the Eastern & Oriental Express?
Belmond’s Eastern & Oriental Express recommends smart casual attire during the day, with comfortable and culturally appropriate clothing for excursions. A more formal dress code is implemented in the evening, and it is suggested that men wear a jacket for dinner.
