Day 1 – Chiang Mai to Elephant Nature Park

You will be picked up from your Chiang Mai hotel and taken on the one hour…

You will be picked up from your Chiang Mai hotel and taken on the one hour picturesque drive to Elephant Nature Park in the mountainous Mae Taeng district. Observe the free roaming elephants enjoying their natural surroundings of the sanctuary from the viewing platform and hear their personal stories from one of the park’s expert guides.

Watch the elephants enjoy fresh fruit and vegetables prepared and fed by their mahouts, before its time for lunch yourself. On the viewing platform, enjoy a Thai vegetarian buffet whilst observing the elephants and chatting to the park volunteers. Later, you will have a chance to walk with the elephants in a small group to the Taeng river on the outskirts of the park and watch them splash and play around from the river bank. The day also includes visits to the Dog Project, Cat Kingdom, and the captivating ‘Hands Off’ Project, where the elephants roam freely as a herd, viewed from the skywalk.

Enjoy a relaxed dinner made from quality locally grown produce prepared in Western and Eastern styles. Your accommodation tonight is in a simple but comfortable traditional bamboo hut with shared facilities. You may choose to sleep with your window open to listen to the elephants as they rumble, snore and even the occasional trumpet!
