As the former capital of the Lanna Kingdom, the second-oldest Thai Kingdom, Chiang Mai became a vital center for cultural and culinary influences. Thailand, Myanmar, Laos and China had influence on the first Thai culinary recipes, using ingredients such as lemongrass and galangal. These ingredients are still in use today and were perfected in the Chiang Mai royal courts.

The evening provides an insight into the culinary heritage of the “Rose of the North”. Embark on the guided tour, sampling the delights of Chiang Mai cuisine, tasting mouthwatering local snacks, and the delicious Khao Soi, a coconut curry noodle dish that is unique to Chiang Mai. After tasting all the delights of the north, your guide will be more than happy to assist at the market, bartering for more tasteful treats.
