Spend the day discovering the historic city of Hue, once the imperial capital of Vietnam. Begin with a visit to the impressive Imperial City, exploring its ancient gates, palaces and temples within the UNESCO-listed citadel. Continue to Thien Mu Pagoda, one of Hue’s most iconic landmarks, overlooking the Perfume River.

After lunch, visit the peaceful Tomb of Khai Dinh, renowned for its intricate architecture and ornate interiors. Continue to the Tomb of Tu Duc, set among landscaped gardens and lakes, before returning to Hue city in the late afternoon. This morning travel over the spectacular Hai Van Pass to Da Nang, enjoying breathtaking views of the coastline and surrounding mountains. Continue onwards to Hoi An, where you will be dropped off at your hotel.

The remainder of the day is free to relax and enjoy the beautiful beaches, with their long stretches of golden sand and calm emerald waters.

Enjoy Hanoi’s tree-lined streets and lively café culture, a legacy of the city’s French colonial influence. Take a wander through the fascinating Hanoi Old Quarter and witness Train Street where a working railway runs just inches from local shop fronts and doorways. Discover the famous 36 Streets, each traditionally associated with a particular trade, and soak up the atmosphere around Hoan Kiem Lake. With its historic temples, French colonial architecture, bustling markets and renowned Vietnamese street food, Hanoi offers plenty to discover on foot.

Enjoy breakfast before heading off on a Halong Bay overnight cruise where you will spend the evening on a traditional Chinese junk boat. During your cruise you will be able to see the huge limestone rocks which rise up out of the water and give the bay such an unusual appearance. You’ll have time to swim, snorkel or kayak in the tranquil waters before heading back to the boat for sunset and dinner.

Leave Hanoi behind and travel to Halong Bay, where you’ll board the Bhaya Classic for a Halong Bay overnight cruise through the bay’s spectacular limestone karsts and islands. The following morning, start with optional Tai Chi before brunch as the cruise continues through Halong Bay.
