Your Itinerary

Day 1 - Hanoi

On arrival in Hanoi, transfer to your hotel and enjoy free time until your tour briefing and welcome drinks with your fellow travellers.

Day 2 – Hanoi

Spend the day discovering Hanoi’s must-visit sites including the infamous Hoa Lo Prison, also known as the “Hanoi Hilton Prison”. Walk through the crowded streets of the city’s Old Quarter; pay a visit to the Temple of Literature and the historical St Joseph’s Cathedral. Enjoy a delicious afternoon tea before you continue your exploration of the Ho Chi Minh Quarter, the Hanoi Opera House, and a stroll around Hoan Kiem Lake.

Day 3 – Halong Bay

Drive past scenes of traditional rural life as you travel from Hanoi to Halong City, the gateway to Halong Bay. On arrival, board a well-appointed junk boat, enjoy a delicious lunch and begin cruising among some of the 3,000 islands which rise from the sea. In the evening, retreat to your private cabin, or relax on the main deck or at the bar.

Day 4 – Halong to Hue

Take part in a sunrise Tai Chi lesson on the sundeck before enjoying brunch on board. Cruise back to port to disembark. Drive to Hanoi airport where you will fly to the former imperial capital of Hue. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel for check in and an afternoon at leisure.

Day 5 – Hoi An

Enjoy a guided tour of the city’s sites including Emperor Tu Duc’s elaborate tomb, Imperial Palace, Citadel and Thien Mu Pagoda. From Hue, drive to Hoi An, admiring some of Vietnam’s most stunning scenery along the way. On arrival in Hoi An, check into your hotel and enjoy an afternoon of independent exploration.

Day 6 – Hoi An

Visit the technicolour Tam Thanh village. With amazing artworks covering the walls, streets and alleyways, this once sleepy corner of Hoi An is brought back to life. Visit Thanh Dong Organic Farm, learning the traditional farming methods adopted by this village. Chat with the local farmers and take part in the farming activities. In the afternoon, take a walking tour to discover the mix of Chinese, Japanese and French influenced architecture.

Day 7 – Saigon & Cu Chi Tunnels

Drive to Danang before flying to Saigon, Vietnam’s commercial capital. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel for check-in. Take a moment to freshen up before your journey continues to the Cu Chi Tunnels. Discover the network of underground tunnels while learning about their role in the Vietnam War. Return to Saigon and spend the remainder of day at leisure.

Day 8 - Mekong Delta

Venture to the Mekong Delta and spend the day exploring the many palm fringed canals, local temples and markets. Enjoy a delicious lunch made from locally harvested produce. On your return drive to Saigon, stop by a Cao Dai temple with its spectacular architecture and vivid colours. Arrive back to Saigon to join your group for a farewell dinner.

Day 9 – Saigon to Phnom Penh

After breakfast, enjoy a guided walking tour of Saigon. Wander along Dong Khoi Street, admire the grand architecture of Notre Dame Cathedral, stop at the Reunification Palace, and get lost amongst the many stalls and vendors within Benh Thanh Markets. In the afternoon, transfer to the airport for your onward journey.

On arrival, you will be met and transferred to your hotel. Tonight, meet your fellow travellers for the Cambodia portion over welcome drinks while your Tour Leader explains some important details and logistics of the journey ahead.

Day 10 – Phnom Penh

Explore Phnom Penh by cyclo, a chaotic, energetic and always fascinating city. Start your day at Wat Phnom, the birthplace of the capital. Then, visit the Royal Palace, the residence of King Norodom Sihamoni, the Silver Pagoda, and the National Museum, which contains a comprehensive collection of Khmer art.

In the afternoon, visit Sleng Museum, formerly a High School which became the interrogation and torture facility for the Khmer Rouge regime. Then, visit of Phnom Penh’s two great markets, the Central Market and the sprawling Russian Market, a labyrinth of stalls selling everything from CDs and DVDs to silks, crafts and jewellery.

Day 11 - Phnom Penh to Siem Reap

In the morning, transfer to Phnom Penh airport for your onward flight to Siem Reap. Later, visit Kampong Pluk floating village, Kampong Phluk: an isolated community of three villages built on stilts. These scenic villages are flooded for around half the year (Aug/Sept – Feb), enabling row boat journeys that provide income for the local community. You will take the small boat through the flooded mangrove forests; this unique ecosystem survives on wet soil for half the year, fostering a variety of wildlife. Return by boat and vehicle to Siem Reap and the balance of the day is at leisure

In the evening, you can visit Phare, the Cambodian Circus Show, Uniquely Cambodian, and Daringly Modern Siem Reap’s most unique, authentic, top rated evening entertainment. More than just a circus, Phare performers use theater, music, dance and modern circus arts to tell uniquely Cambodian stories; historical, folk and modern. The young circus artists will astonish you with their energy, emotion, enthusiasm and talent.

Day 12 – Siem Reap

Don’t forget to set you’re alarm today as we start at pre-dawn to witness the breathtaking view of the Sunrise over Angkor Wat temple. Enjoy breakfast at a local restaurant before proceeding to the Southern Gate of Angkor Thom ‘Great City’. This will include many of the finest Temples of King Jayavarman VII, who ruled from 1181 to 1220. At the southern gate of Angkor Thom, you will marvel at the imposing 23m (75-foot) high stone faces of Avalokiteshvara, featured in the Tomb Raider movie. These astonishing carvings inspire awe and wonder in all who view them. At the center of this citadel lies the state temple of Bayon, which we will also visit. This temple-mountain, built at the end of the 12th century, is adorned with hundreds of gigantic stone faces.

This tour also includes the Terrace of Elephants, the Terrace of the Leper King. Later in the day you will discover the most famous temples from the 11th century: Baphuon, Phimeanakas. Later visit Ta Prohm. It is unforgettable due to the massive trees with thick roots that entangle the walls. They were left here intentionally by the archaeologists working on the site. While clearing back the forest it was decided to leave them in place to serve as a reminder of how the original discovers found it and other temples. Many of the trees have grown around and through the remains, and soar high above the temple.

This evening step back in time with the only air-condition theatre in town, Dancers, Singers and Musicians will bring Khmer Ancient culture back in time in a spectacular surrounding while you enjoy one of the finest cuisine in town.

Day 13 – Farewell

It’s time to say goodbye, but just think of all the wonderful stories you will take home. A transfer will take you to the airport for your onward travels.
