Your Itinerary

Day 1 - Hanoi

On arrival in Hanoi, transfer to your hotel and enjoy free time until your tour briefing and welcome drinks with your fellow travellers.

Day 2 – Hanoi

After breakfast, you’ll meet your guide and depart on a day full of history and culture. Head to the popular Hoan Kiem Lake, situated in the heart of Hanoi city and Dong Xuan market. Continue to the Ho Chi Minh complex comprising Ba Dinh Square, Presidential Palace and the private residence which were occupied from 1954 until 1969. In the same complex, you will see the One Pillar Pagoda, founded by King Ly Thai To in 1049. This structure has become an important symbol for the people of Hanoi.

Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before continuing on to the Temple Of Literature, Vietnam’s first university.  Constructed in 1070, the gardens and well-preserved architecture offer a relaxing glimpse into Vietnam’s past. You will then visit Hoa Lo Prison (formerly known as the “Hanoi Hilton” during the American war). Your tour will also include the historic St Joseph’s Cathedral. Before returning to your hotel, making a final stop at the Opera House to enjoy a wonderful afternoon tea.

Day 3 – Halong Bay

Drive past scenes of traditional rural life as you travel from Hanoi to Halong City, the gateway to Halong Bay. On arrival, board a well-appointed junk boat, enjoy a delicious lunch and begin cruising among some of the 3,000 islands which rise from the sea. In the evening, retreat to your private cabin, relax on the main deck or at the bar.

Day 4 – Halong to Hue

Take part in a sunrise Tai Chi lesson on the sundeck before enjoying brunch onboard. Cruise back to port and disembark, drive to Hanoi airport where you will fly to the former imperial capital of Hue. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel and enjoy an afternoon at leisure.

Day 5 – Hue to Hoi An

Depart your hotel for your half-day tour of Hue, the former imperial capital of Vietnam. You will visit Thien Mu Pagoda which has two sections. The front of the Pagoda houses the seven-storey octagonal Phuoc Duyen tower, which has become the symbol of Hue. The other section of the pagoda is the rear portion, where the monks of the temple live and practice Buddhism. Continue as you drive to the Citadel at the Imperial Palace, where the emperors of the Nguyen Dynasty ruled Vietnam till 1945.

Journey through time and stop a the tomb of Tu Duc, which is one of the most beautiful works of royal architecture of the Nguyen dynasty.  The tomb is the final resting place of Emperor Tu Duc (1848-83) who enjoyed the longest reign of any monarch of the Nguyen dynasty.

In the afternoon depart Hue for Hoi An. The drive will take the beautiful Hai Van Pass towards Danang and Hoi An. Upon arrival, transfer to hotel and enjoy the rest of the evening at leisure.

Day 6 – Hoi An

The morning will be spent cycling around the countryside outside Hoi An. Take in the scenery and rice fields watching local life pass by. The group will make their way to Thanh Dong Organic farm, a large organic farm supported by 11 local families. Take a stroll around the gardens, learning about the cultivation of vegetables and fresh herbs. Feel free to get your hands in the dirt and participate in the tasks that keep the garden running.

In the afternoon, enjoy a walking tour at the Museum of Folk Culture where you will learn about the history of this charming and peaceful town before you walk around the small markets. Continue to the Japanese covered bridge built in the early 17th century by Japanese traders who settled in the town. The special pagoda-shaped bridge is now the official symbol of Hoi An. Finish with a visit to a historic old house in the UNESCO-recognized town.

Day 7 – Saigon & Cu Chi Tunnels

Drive to Danang before flying to Saigon, Vietnam’s commercial capital. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel for check-in. Take a moment to freshen up before your journey continues to the Cu Chi Tunnels. Discover the network of underground tunnels while learning about their role in the Vietnam War. Return to Saigon and spend the remainder of day at leisure.

Day 8 - Mekong Delta

Escape to the stunning Mekong Delta region from Ho Chi Minh City as we journey towards My Tho, a peaceful town perched on the banks of the Mekong River. Once in My Tho, visit the Cao Dai Temple. Then embark on a traditional boat ride along the Mekong River and discover the famous Four Islands.

During the trip, there will be various stops to walk amongst the orchards, cart riding within the villages and canal cruising by Sampan. Discover the local daily life of the people living on the Mekong and see how they sustain themselves. Take a glimpse to the past and breathe that magic atmosphere of ancient time as you witness their age-old traditions and handicrafts. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant.

Day 9 – Farewell

After breakfast, enjoy a guided walking tour of Saigon. Wander along Dong Khoi Street, admire the grand architecture of Notre Dame Cathedral, stop at the Reunification Palace, and get lost amongst the many stalls and vendors within Benh Thanh Markets. In the afternoon, transfer to the airport for your onward journey.
