Arrive in Ho Chi Minh City in the late afternoon or the evening, where you will be greeted and transferred to your Ho Chi Minh City hotel for the following three nights. You may like to freshen up before heading out to a rooftop bar to admire the city skyline. Social Club Rooftop Bar is more relaxed, whilst Chill Skybar often has a live DJ.

Today, perhaps begin to delve into the history of Ho Chi Minh City. A great way to explore the city is on a guided tour, which you can incorporate into your itinerary.

The Reunification Palace remains largely unchanged since North Vietnamese tanks broke through its gates in 1975, still showcasing the war room maps and rotary telephones. A short walk from here is the Central Post Office, the City Hall and the Notre-Dame Cathedral, reminders of the French Colonial period.

The War Remnants Museum, a couple of streets further on, is a more poignant stop, with the photography and testimonies inside offering an raw insight into the First Indochina War and the Vietnam War.

During your stay, you may like to include a half day trip to the Cu Chi Tunnels, an expansive network of underground passages that was constructed during the Vietnam War.

In the evening, a great way to experience Ho Chi Minh City is on a Vespa food tour, showing you all the best local eats. Alternatively, the unique A O Show at the Ho Chi Minh Opera House offers a mesmerising acrobatic performance that showcases Vietnam’s societal transformation.

Fly onwards today to Danang airport, the gateway to the heritage town of Hoi An. The journey to Hoi An is a historic one, you’ll be passing sights that were used throughout the Vietnam War. You will be greeted at the airport and transferred to your chosen Hoi An hotel for a seven night stay. Hoi An rewards a slower pace than bustling Ho Chi Minh City, so enjoy some rest and relaxation.

Renowned for its maze of alleyways and street markets, Hoi An is a great place to get out and explore, we have included an Ancient Hoi An walking tour, where an expert guide will show you all the hidden gems. The Ancient Town is actually a UNESCO World Heritage site with its merchant houses, Chinese assembly halls and the famous Japanese Covered Bridge. Browse colourful boutiques and galleries, pick up a souvenir at a lively market and try local specialities like Cao Lau, a noodle dish unique to Hoi An.

After the hustle and bustle of the city, you can spend your days relaxing on Hoi An’s palm fringed beach. The sunsets here in Hoi An are definitely a highlight and are best experienced either from the beach or sitting by the river with a fresh beer in hand. Evenings in Hoi An are their own event. As the sun goes down, the Ancient Town’s lantern-lit streets and the boats on the Thu Bon River, each carrying their own paper lantern, light up the area in beautiful spectacle.

We’d recommend taking a day tour from Hoi An to the Ba Na Hills and the famous Golden Bridge. You’ll be collected from your hotel, taking the scenic 1.5 hour drive to the bottom of the hills. Take one of the world’s longest cable cars over sub-tropical rainforests, up to one of the peaks where the striking Golden Bridge is held high in the air by two giant hands. Located 1,400 metres above sea level, you feel as though you are floating amongst the clouds.

In the Ba Na Hills, there are a variet of attractions that you can explore at your own pace. Le Jardin d’Amour showcases beautiful displays and you can admire the Linh Ung pagoda and the Shakyamuni Buddhist statue. Continuing up the network of cable cars, enjoy spectacular views over Danang city.

After lunch, you have the option of walking to the summit. You can also visit the Nghinh Phong Tower, ride the alpine coaster or visit Fantasy Park.

Another fantastic half day tour from the city is a visit to the Marble Mountains and Non Nuoc Beach. Your tour begins at the Museum of Cham Sculpture, housing an incredible collection of artifacts. You’ll then drive along the Han River, taking in the Dragon Bridge and the Ung Pagoda, with Vietnam’s tallest Buddha statue.

You can then enjoy Non Nuoc Beach, renowned for its golden sands. Continue to the Marble Mountains where you can follow the paths to mystical caves and to the summit, with beautiful views of the coastline.

Return to Danang airport to catch your flight back to Ho Chi Minh City and then onwards to the UK.
