Holidays to Sydney & East Coast Australia
From the world’s most iconic harbourside city to the Great Barrier Reef, Australia’s East Coast should not be missed.
Sydney
Perhaps best known for the Sydney Opera House and the iconic harbour, Sydney boasts everything from spectacular wildlife and sun-basked beaches to towering skyscrapers and a buzzing city centre.
Amongst the best things to do in Sydney, gain a unique perspective of the city from the water on a Sydney Harbour cruise, or tower over the skyline on a Sydney Harbour Bridge climb! Beside the harbour, you’ll find The Rocks, a bustling marketplace offering local produce, clothing, jewellery and arts and crafts.
Sydney also boasts a spectacular coastline. Get the true Aussie experience with a trip to Bondi Beach, or take in the views on the famous Bondi to Coogee walk. Along these shores, humpback whales migrate, and whale watching in Sydney is a spectacle that can be witnessed from May to November.
New South Wales
Australia’s oldest state has lots to offer. South of Sydney, you’ll find quaint coastal towns, stunning national parks and Canberra, situated within Australia’s Capital Territory.
Hunter Valley, two hours North of Sydney, is one of the country’s most famous wine regions, made up of rolling vineyards and charming cellar doors. New South Wales is also home to the beautiful Blue Mountains, deriving their title from the blueish haze that shrouds the spectacular landscape.
Embodying a stereotypically Aussie laidback atmosphere is Byron Bay, with bountiful beaches, a thriving arts scene and award-winning restaurants. Embrace Byron Bay’s wellness culture with a beachside yoga class, make a splash with a surf lesson, kayak with dolphins or walk to Australia’s most easterly point.
South Queensland
South Queensland encompasses the Fraser and Sunshine Coasts and is home to incredible landscapes and charming towns.
Relaxed Noosa boasts boutique shops, luxurious spas and delicious restaurants and is with fringed by vast stretches of beach and lush hinterlands. Noosa is also home to one of only two everglades in the world, a fascinating ecosystem that can be explored by boat or canoe.
Hervey Bay is known as the “whale watching capital of the world”. Situated just North of Noosa, Hervey Bay boasts spectacular sightings of humpback whales from mid-July to early November.
You will also find World Heritage Listed K’gari (formerly Fraser Island), the world’s largest sand island. Explore tropical rainforests, pristine beaches and mesmerising freshwater lakes on this incredible island.
Brisbane
Queensland’s capital, is an enchanting collage of high rise and pockets of nature. This offers so many things to do in Brisbane! Make the most of both sides of this bustling city, perhaps take in the views and enjoy a cocktail from the Sky Deck, stroll through the Botanic Gardens or kayak on the river.
Just outside of Brisbane is famous Australia Zoo. “Home of the Crocodile Hunter”, the zoo was founded by the late Steve Irwin, and is home to a huge variety of animals. You can even get up close and personal with the koalas and kangaroos!
Another must-visit for wildlife-lovers is Moreton Island. Bask on beautiful beaches, explore on bush walks, snorkel among the Tangalooma Wrecks and experience unforgettable encounters with friendly wild dolphins.
North Queensland
Queensland’s Great Barrier Reef coastline boasts some spectacular islands, lush tropical rainforests and stunning beaches.
The famous Whitsundays are a collection of 74 islands, scattered throughout sparkling azure waters. Cruise through the beautiful waters, snorkel amongst coral reef and visit what is accepted as one of the most beautiful beaches in the world: Whitehaven Beach. You’ll probably recognise the iconic spirals of blue hues that decorate the waters off Whitehaven’s pristine sands.
North Queensland’s reef islands are also spectacular. You’ll find amazing diving and snorkelling on Fitzroy Island, Green Island is teeming with marine life, or head to Magnetic Island to spot koalas and rock wallabies.
Cairns
Cairns is the perfect hub for much of North Queensland, and has lots to offer in its own right. The gateway to the Great Barrier Reef, embark on a cruise, diving or snorkelling tour from Cairns, exploring this incredible habitat at your own pace.
Venturing further outside of the city, the Atherton Tablelands boast spectacular waterfalls and lakes, or visit the world’s oldest tropical rainforest: Daintree Rainforest. For another perspective of North Queensland’s rainforests, take the Kuranda Scenic Railway and Skyrail cable car, offering incredible views.
