Your Itinerary

Day 1 - Welcome to Melbourne

Arrive into the exciting city of Melbourne. This afternoon is at leisure.

Hotel: Mercure Welcome Melbourne (Standard) or Crowne Plaza (Superior)

Day 2 - Great Ocean Road

On your journey, view the popular coastal townships of Apollo Bay and Lorne, a surfer’s haven and retreat. See many fern filled gullies and river inlets. Travel the length of the Great Ocean Road passing towering limestone cliffs, sweeping white beaches and stunning forest scenery. Witness a fabulous spectacle of massive natural erosion. Contrasts abound between rugged coast and verdant rainforest living side by side. See the amazing Twelve Apostles, limestone stacks rising dramatically from the Southern Ocean. Walk along the boardwalk and enjoy the scenery from various viewing platforms.

Day 3 - Phillip Island

Discover the charm of Melbourne on a sightseeing tour. This afternoon, travel to Phillip Island, home to an array of wildlife, including Australia’s largest fur seal colony and the endearing Little Penguins. Along the way, visit an animal park for up-close encounters with koalas, kangaroos, Tasmanian Devils and more. View spectacular coastal scenery at The Nobbies, two rocky outcrops abundant in marine life, and browse through the educational Visitor Information Centre. At sunset, watch the Little Penguins as they battle the surf and make their way to their dune burrows to feed their young.

Day 4 - Ayers Rock

This morning make your way from your Melbourne hotel to the airport for your flight to Ayers Rock. This afternoon, enjoy a leisurely drive out to Kata Tjuta. Witness a magnificent outback sunset there while enjoying sparkling wine.

Day 5 - Kings Canyon

Travel to Kings Canyon and make the rocky climb to the rim of the canyon for marvellous views of Watarrka National Park. Time permitting, you may choose to descend into the green oasis of the ‘Garden of Eden’. Or, you may wish to take an easier, shorter walk to explore the boulder-strewn canyon creek bed. Return to Ayers Rock Resort.

Day 6 - Kata Tjuta

Watch the sunrise at Uluru, then travel to Kata Tjuta. Spend time exploring Walpa Gorge and its unusual rock formations. This afternoon, visit the Uluru-Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre. Then, join your guide for a drive around the base of Uluru. Continue to the Kuniya Walk, where you’ll be escorted to the Mutitjulu Waterhole. View ancient rock art and learn about the Aboriginal and European history of Uluru. Late afternoon, witness the striking colour changes of Uluru at sunset with sparkling wine.

Day 7 - Cairns

Experience acclaimed artist Bruce Munro’s Field of Light. Under cover of darkness, wander through 50,000 magical hand-crafted frosted glass spheres of light, in colours of ochre, deep violet, blue and gentle white. Then make your way to the dune top, where you’ll be served tea, coffee or hot chocolate. Watch in awe as the sun pops up in the distance behind Uluru, flooding the landscape, including Kata Tjuta behind you, with light.

Later, you will be transferred to Ayers Rock Airport for your onward flight (flights to depart after 9.30am).

Day 8 - Great Barrier Reef

Board a high-speed catamaran to cruise through sparkling turquoise waters to the outer edge of the Great Barrier Reef. Extending over 35 million hectares, it’s the largest reef structure and marine park in the world and offers an experience like no other. View spectacular coral and tropical fish from the on board underwater observatory and semi-submersible craft, or go snorkelling and experience this natural wonder up-close (equipment provided). Enjoy a tropical buffet lunch before returning to Cairns.

Day 9 - Cairns

Today you will have the chance to see the Rainforest from an amazing vantage point as you peacefully glide over the Kuranda Rainforest in a cable car.  Skyrail takes you over and through the breathtaking World Heritage rainforest of the Barron Gorge National Park. There are two rainforest stations where you can enjoy a ranger guided boardwalk and observe this ancient rainforest from spectacular lookouts.

On arrival in Kuranda there is free time to explore the ‘village in the rainforest’ and its many attractions, including the Heritage Markets. After exploring, board the Kuranda Scenic Railway for a historic journey travelling through some of the oldest rainforest in the world. Passing the spectacular Stoney Creek Falls your journey winds through man-made tunnels, across bridges and around curves to arrive at its final destination, Freshwater Station.

Day 10 - Sydney

This morning make your way to Cairns Airport for your Sydney-bound flight. The afternoon is free to explore this vibrant city.

Day 11 - Sydney

Cross the Sydney Harbour Bridge and stop at Milsons Point for spectacular views of the city skyline. Stop at North Head Lookout for a panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean. Enjoy free time at Manly Beach and stroll along The Corso, before heading back to the city. Board your Captain Cook Lunch Cruise for a buffet lunch. This afternoon you’ll drive through the city and the Domain to Mrs. Macquarie’s Chair. Get your camera ready for close up views of the Opera House and Harbour Bridge. Stop at the headland known as The Gap before arriving at Bondi Beach, where you can wander along the shoreline before re-boarding your coach to return to the city.

Day 12 - Blue Mountains

Explore the World Heritage listed Blue Mountains National Park. View the famous Three Sisters rock formation from a perfect vantage point before arriving at Scenic World, where you’ll witness the vastness of the Blue Mountains. You can ride the Scenic Railway, Cableway or Skyway, a great way to see the steep valleys and canyons and follow the boardwalk along the valley floor (own expense). Stop in picturesque Leura where you’ll enjoy lunch in a local café. There’s time to explore the village, a delightful blend of quaint shops and groomed gardens.

On your return to Sydney, enjoy an afternoon encounter at a wildlife park. Get up-close to koalas and see kangaroos, wombats, and other native animals.

Day 13 - Farewell from Sydney
