Sydney & The SCG Stadium
All you need to know about visiting Sydney and attending the 2029/30 Ashes Test Match in Sydney.
What stadium is hosting the Ashes Test in Sydney?
Sydney Cricket Ground, known as the SCG has been hosting international cricket matches since the late 19th Century. Established in 1848, it is one of the oldest cricket grounds in the world and has retained its classic charm with its Members’ Pavilion and Ladies’ Stand, while modern upgrades have ensured it remains a world-class venue.
Where is the SCG?
The Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) is located in Moore Park, just a few kilometres southeast of Downtown Sydney and the tourist areas of Circular Quay and Darling Harbour. The full address for the SCG stadium is Driver Avenue, Moore Park, New South Wales 2021.
What is the best way to get to the SCG Stadium?
The easiest way to explore the whole of Sydney is by using public transport, and visiting the SCG is no exception. The network of buses, light rail (trams) and trains are very useful for travelling around the city.
- By Light Rail – The L2 and L3 light rail lines offer a direct route to the SCG. If you’re staying in downtown or near the Opera House, you can catch the light rail from Circular Quay, Central Station, or Town Hall to the Moore Park stop. From there, it’s a 5-10 minute walk to the stadium.
- By Bus – Numerous bus routes service the SCG area. If your hotel is in Downtown or nearby suburbs like Surry Hills, catch any bus heading toward Anzac Parade or Oxford Street. Key routes include buses from Circular Quay or Central Station that stop at Moore Park or Anzac Parade near the stadium.
- By Train – While there is no direct train line to the SCG, you can take a train to Central Station and transfer to a light rail or bus.
- By Taxi – Taxis, Uber and other Rideshare services are widely available throughout Sydney. Taxi drop-off points are located on Driver Avenue and Moore Park Road. The journey from most downtown hotels should take around 15 minutes.
- By Car – Parking around the SCG is scarce and traffic will be heavy on match days, so it is not recommended to drive and park at the stadium.
- On Foot – Walking to the stadium from downtown hotels can be a pleasant option. Depending on your hotel location it will usually take you between 40 to 50 minutes to walk to the SCG via Foveaux Street or Oxford Street.
