Leaving Ayers Rock Resort, travel through spectacular desert scenery, passing Curtin Springs Station and viewing the striking flat-topped Atila (Mt. Conner). Day 4 – Kings Canyon to Alice Springs
Rise early this morning to begin the rocky climb to the rim of Kings Canyon, where you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking views of Watarrka National Park at sunrise. Follow the rim walk, pausing at lookout points to gaze down into the vast canyon gorge. Time permitting, you may also descend into the lush ‘Garden of Eden’, a hidden oasis of permanent waterholes and greenery.
The rim circuit walk takes around three hours and is steep in sections, recommended for travellers with a high level of fitness. For a more relaxed pace, an easier, shorter walk along the canyon floor offers a chance to appreciate the boulder-strewn landscape from below.
Later, rejoin your coach for the journey back to Alice Springs. Stop en route at Erldunda Roadhouse, a true Outback icon at the junction of the Stuart and Lasseter Highways, before continuing north along the Stuart Highway. You’ll arrive back in Alice Springs in the late afternoon, bringing your Red Centre adventure to a memorable close.
