Description
Your tour begins in Hobart, and as you leave the city you can see Government House, before you cross over the Tasman Bridge and into Coal River Valley. You’ll take an orientation drive through the historic town of Richmond, visiting the convict built Richmond Bridge.
The tour continues onto the Tasman Peninsula, where you’ll skirt Norfolk Bay and admire the dramatic rock formations of Eaglehawk Neck. You’ll have some time in Pirates Bay where you can explore some of the rugged coastline and admire the rugged geology.
At Port Arthur Historic Site, you’ll have 4.5 hours to explore. In the Interpretation Centre you can hear harrowing stories from convicts, then you’ll be led around the restored buildings and the ruins by an expert guide. The tour finishes with a cruise on Carnarvon Bay around the Isle of the Dead, before some free time. Before you head back to Hobart try some local produce at the Chocolate Foundry.
