Safari Tents provide a comfortable and private base to experience the Bamurru Plains wilderness. Spread across the bush camp, they are ideal for couples or solo travellers, with mesh walls that keep guests safe while allowing clear views of the floodplains. From the king-sized bed, it’s possible to watch wildlife at sunrise and the stars at night.

Each 31 sqm tent is simply and thoughtfully furnished with natural materials, artwork, and earthy tones. Facilities include a private ensuite with rainfall shower, plush cotton robes, Australian-made personal care items, a cold-water thermos, and local flora and fauna reading materials. Raised on timber stilts and completely off-grid, the bungalows combine essential comforts with an authentic Top End wilderness experience.

The Kingfisher Suite is the largest of the safari tents at Bamurru Plains, offering over 81 sqm of open-plan space designed for comfort and connection to the wilderness. Three times the size of a standard safari tent, it features a plush king-size bed and deluxe swags for children, making it ideal for couples or families.

Floor-to-ceiling mesh walls provide uninterrupted views of the surrounding floodplains, allowing guests to watch wildlife from the bed or lounge area. A private dining table overlooking the plains is perfect for those wanting an intimate meal away from the Main Lodge, with in-room dining available on request.

The bathroom includes twin basins and showers, styled with rustic timber and decorative corrugated iron for a touch of outback character. Contemporary yet in harmony with the environment, the Kingfisher Suite offers a spacious, relaxed sanctuary where guests can fully immerse themselves in the sights and sounds of Bamurru’s unique wilderness.

Bamurru Plains offers an all-inclusive safari-style dining experience, with every meal and drink prepared by a skilled chef team using native ingredients and locally sourced produce. From fresh breakfasts to indulgent desserts, dishes are tailored to dietary needs and showcase the flavours of the Top End.

Meals are enjoyed in the main lodge, where guests gather around the long timber dining table to share wildlife stories in a relaxed, communal setting. The open kitchen adds to the homely feel, while an open bar with Australian wines, beer, spirits, and light snacks is available throughout the day.

Afternoons are enhanced with sundowners and canapés, either on the deck or out in the wilderness, and evenings conclude with a fully-hosted three-course dinner. Guests in the Kingfisher Suite can also opt for a private dining experience overlooking the floodplains.

Guests will enjoy twice-daily guided safaris, shared with other travellers and led by Bamurru’s expert field guides, who are the key to unlocking the region’s wild secrets. Activities may include thrilling airboat safaris across the floodplains, open-top safari drives through the savanna woodlands, and crocodile-spotting river cruises along the Mary River. For bird enthusiasts, Bamurru is a paradise, with opportunities to observe the seasonal spectacle of thousands of magpie geese, as well as over 200 other species.

Guests are also encouraged to spend quiet time at ‘The Hide’, a unique wildlife observation platform perfect for watching animals undisturbed in their natural habitat, or simply enjoy moments of leisure around the lodge, soaking in the sights and sounds of the bush.

Kakadu in a Day is the ideal tour for those short on time but wanting to tick off all the “must-do’s” of Australia’s largest National Park. This full-day adventure showcases Kakadu’s dramatic escarpments, ancient wetlands, and diverse wildlife, before returning you to Bamurru in time for late afternoon and evening activities.

The experience includes a 1-hour scenic flight from Bamurru Plains to Kakadu with expert commentary, followed by a 90-minute Yellow Water billabong cruise, where you’ll encounter crocodiles, birdlife, and the park’s incredible wetland landscapes.

Enjoy lunch at Cooinda Lodge, then visit the Warradjan Aboriginal Cultural Centre to explore fascinating stories, artefacts, and its gallery gift shop. A 25-minute return flight brings you back to Bamurru by approximately 3:30pm.

A handmade picnic lunch is provided, followed by a stop at Cahills Crossing, famous for its crocodile sightings. The experience concludes with the Guluyambi Cultural Cruise on the East Alligator River, led by an Aboriginal guide sharing stories and cultural insights.
