As you drive from the hilly terrain of the valley and travel south, you will be able to get your first glimpse of the Southern Ocean on route to Phillip Island. After crossing the San Remo Bridge on to the Island, the wonders of Phillip Island become apparent – from beautiful coastal scenery and beaches, quaint townships, and of course, no visit is complete without a visit to the Penguin Parade and Koala Conservation Centre.

An overnight stay on the island allows time to fully enjoy the nightly spectacle of watching thousands of Fairy Penguins clamber ashore each night on Summerlands Beach.

Today begins with a different form of transportation, as you drive onto the Searoad Ferry from Sorrento and travel over beautiful Port Phillip Bay to Queenscliffe and the Ballarine Peninsula. On a calm day, the waters are serene – you may be lucky enough to spot a chasing pod of dolphins.

The Ballarine Peninsula is home to some charming seaside resort towns and rich maritime history. There are also plenty of secluded bays and beaches to relax on and again, a huge focus on fine food and wine produce.

Tonight, spend your final night of this self drive holiday at Victoria’s second largest city of Geelong with its vibrant waterfront and marina. The city is a hub for arts and culture and is famed for its 100 sculptured bollards which line the waterfront.
