Your Day Tour
A full day tour exploring Katherine Gorge and its network of thirteen gorges, carved from billion-year-old sandstone, by the Katherine River in Nitmiluk National Park.
Leaving Darwin, travel south through tropical scenery, passing former WWII airstrips and the Adelaide River War Cemetery, a site dedicated to those killed in the Darwin air raids during the 1940’s. Continue to Edith Falls where there is time for a refreshing swim in the paperbark and pandanus fringed waterhole beneath the falls (conditions permitting).
After your included lunch, join a two hour scenic cruise through Katherine Gorge in Nitmiluk National Park, with a chance to see freshwater crocodiles sunning themselves on the banks of the river and many interesting species of birdlife. The cruise of the first two gorges takes you past sheer rock walls and requires a short walk to reach the second gorge.
On your return to Darwin you will journey through the township of Katherine and the historic gold mining town of Pine Creek, before reaching your evening stop where you may purchase dinner at Emerald Springs (at your own expense) before returning to Darwin.
