(Tuesday) Leave Sydney by train this morning, traversing the magnificent Southern Tablelands by and travelling across the New South Wales and Victoria state border. Arrive in Melbourne for a three night stay in Australia’s sporting and culture capital.

Spend your time in Melbourne exploring the eclectic laneways, littered with shops and restaurants, or head up to the Eureka Skydeck, for panoramic views over the city. Perhaps pay a visit to the culture and entertainment hub of Federation Square, where there are often pop-ups and events. Further afield, you can visit the Great Ocean Road, witness the famous penguin parade on Phillip Island.

Board the Overland train for the scenic 10 hour journey to the South Australian capital of Adelaide. The Overland passes through picturesque Australian country towns, including Murray Bridge, Bordertown, Dimboola, and North Shore Geelong. This morning, board the mighty Indian Pacific train. You can either travel in Gold Service or luxury Platinum, both of which include fine dining and drinks, and off train experiences. Our Travel Consultants would be delighted to help you to choose which cabin type you would like.

Your journey begins with a culinary experience in the Barossa Valley, where you will sample a menu of regional produce and try some fine wines, witnessing a ‘Firing of the Barrel’ display. Then, settle into your private cabin for the night, as you pull away from Adelaide.

You will wake up the next morning in New South Wales, disembarking the train in the mining town of Broken Hill. Here, there are a choice of experiences on offer. Following your excursion, head back to the train, enjoying the hospitality and the views as the journey continues.

The next day, the train will traverse the Blue Mountains, where you have the option for off-train experiences. Opt for your preferred excursion, or simply head straight into Sydney, where your journey aboard the Indian Pacific train comes to an end.
