Day 2 – Halifax
You have a full day to discover the Nova Scotian capital. Visiting the star-shaped Halifax Citadel National Historic Site is a must, to learn about the military history of the city, to watch the changing of the guard, and to take in the panoramic views from the ramparts.
At a time of your choice, you’ll also get to admire the city skyline from the water, on a one hour harbour cruise, on a 1930’s style vessel, likely visiting Bedford Basin, and George’s and McNab’s Islands.
If you haven’t got your steps in, you could also follow the coastal walkway around Point Pleasant Park, where you can look back at the dockyards and across to Purcells Cove.

Day 3 – Peggy’s Cove & Mahone Bay
You exploration of the South Shore begins today.
First stop is Peggy’s Cove, a small fishing village an hour’s drive from Halifax. Standing tall, on solid granite rock, its iconic lighthouse is probably the most photographed in Canada.
The onward journey journey to White Point Beach takes just under two hours, with the welcoming town of Mahone Bay a great spot for lunch. Stop in the car park next to bridge over the Mushamush River to snap the iconic shot of the town’s three churches.
Reaching White Point Beach Resort, enjoy a sunset stroll by the dark blue waters of the Atlantic Ocean.

Day 4 – White Point Beach
Today is yours to do as much or as little as you like. You could walk out to White Point, with the ocean on one side and Doggetts Pond on the other, or follow a self-guided loop through the wood and along the tidal estuary, looking out for birdlife and bunnies as you go!
You could hire clubs and enjoy a round at the resort’s 9 hole course, one of the “most picturesque in Atlantic Canada”, or, if staying over a weekend rent a kayak or paddleboard.
Elliot’s Dining Room offers a menu of local maritime flavours, served with incredible sea views. The Founder’s Lounge has a crackling fire and regular live music.

Day 5 – Lunenburg
You have time for another ocean stroll this morning before driving to Lunenburg, a colourful town recognised by UNESCO for its historic centre.
Visit the Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic to learn about the industry and the town’s shipbuilding heritage, or take a tour of the tall ship, Bluenose II, a famous schooner that has become a symbol of Nova Scotia.
If your a fan of seafood, there’s not many places you’ll find it fresher. And the local craft beers aren’t bad too.
Alicion Bed & Breakfast, Lunenburg
Day 6 – Farewell from Nova Scotia
Most direct flights from Halifax to London leave in the morning, so you’ll need to head off early for the roughly 110 km drive to Halifax Stanfield International Airport.
Book a window seat to enjoy one final view of the stunning Nova Scotian coastline as your plane takes off, then sit back and start dreaming of your next Canadian adventure.
