Day 1 - Anchorage

Welcome to the edge of the wilderness – to a city surrounded by uninhabited landscapes and the perfect springboard to an epic adventure through Alaska. Spend the day recovering from your journey before joining your Travel Director and fellow travellers this evening for a Welcome Reception.

Day 2 - Denali National Park

Kickstart your day with a brief Anchorage City Tour before visiting the Alaska Native Heritage Center where you’ll gain a deeper understanding of Alaska’s 11 major cultural groups through storytelling and authentic demonstrations. We leave Anchorage bound for the untamed wilderness of Denali National Park. A Local Specialist will reveal insights into the rare Sub-Artic flora and fauna of the park before delving into Denali’s lively history during a Regional Meal and show at the Denali Dinner Theatre.

Day 3 - Denali National Park

Touch the sky as you wind your way through this untamed wilderness to catch a glimpse of the ‘Great One’. Embark on an extensive Denali Natural History Tour during which you’ll learn about the Alaskan natives who once lived in the park and the first ascent of Denali, North America’s highest peak. You’ll have the whole afternoon free to participate in an array of optional activities. See Denali’s incredible landscapes on a helicopter flight, battle the wild waters of the Nenana. River or join one of the free Denali National Park Service Programs

Optional: Denali Wilderness Hiking

Go for a hike! Take an interpretive, guided walk in the Denali area with a naturalist guide who will point out the landmarks and talk about the amazing geology and glacial history of this part of the world. Walk through boreal forests and discover how plants and animals have adapted to the extreme sub-arctic environment. Walk in the footsteps of animals, and gain a new appreciation for this far north landscape.

Optional: Fixed Wing Flightseeing – Denali Glacier Landing

We offer the only flight that lands on glaciers at the base of Mt. Denali. The pilot will ensure everyone has ample opportunity for photographs, especially photos of Denali. Upon arrival at one of the glacier landing zones passengers deplane and step into the “Ice Age”. Passengers spend 20 minutes snowball throwing, snow angel making, picture taking, or just being awed by the beauty of the ‘otherworldly’ surroundings.

Optional: Fixed Wing Flightseeing in Denali

Travel like the Bush pilots of Alaska! Enjoy a 60-70 minute fixed wing flightseeing journey following the Alaska Range out to about one mile from Mt. Denali (weather dependent). Approx. duration: 1.5 hours.

Optional: Fly Fish Denali

Fly Fish in Alaska! Experienced or beginner; you will fish for Arctic Grayling on lakes in the heart of the Alaska Range. The catch and release fly fishing package offers half day opportunities with no experience necessary. This personalized and fully outfitted trip includes gear, guide, equipment, and transportation. Fishing License additional.

Optional: Kantishna Wilderness (Denali NP Bus)

Go deeper into Denali National park. Join our private bus for a day-trip of a lifetime while experiencing all 92 miles of the Denali National Park road. Our knowledgeable Driver/Guides will share the biology, geology, and history of the region with you as you. Enjoy lunch and an activity at the exclusive Kantishna Roadhouse, located just past Wonder Lake. 13 hour tour with stops every 90 minutes. Only offered June through August when the road is open.

Optional: Arctic Circle Air Adventure from Denali

Fly above the Arctic! This thrilling tour allows a guest to experience the Brooks Range, cross the Arctic Circle and fly the wilderness airways of Alaska’s Arctic. Once on ground, this narrated ground adventure also includes a visit to the community of Wiseman, views of the Trans-Alaska Pipeline and mighty Yukon River. The flight is not fully narrated. Guests receive an official Arctic Circle Certificate upon completion of tour.

Optional: Mt. Denali by Helicopter Glacier Expedition

Get an up-close view of Mt. Denali, the Great One! Enjoy a helicopter thrill as you soar high above the land and view wildlife, alpine glaciers, the Alaska Range and Mt. Denali from afar (Weather dependent). This tour is highly recommendable for our ‘once in a lifetime’ adventurers. Approx. duration: 50 minute flight time with 15-20 minutes on the glacier.

Optional: Mt. Denali Heli-Hiking Adventure

Get an up-close view of Mt. Denali, the Great One! Enjoy a helicopter thrill as you soar high above the land and view wildlife, alpine glaciers, the Alaska Range and Mt. Denali from afar (Weather dependent). This tour is highly recommendable for our “once in a lifetime” adventurers. Heli-Hiking Adventure. Approx. duration: 15 minute flight with 3 hour hike.

Day 4 - Fairbanks

Tune into your beautiful surrounds you’ll have the whole morning to connect with Denali on your terms. This afternoon, we’ll join a Local Specialist at a Dog Musher’s kennel to learn about the sport of Dog Mushing in Alaska and witness first-hand how these energetic sled dogs lead the way. Later, we’ll board the Alaska Railroad, in a deluxe dome railcar, and make our way to the Golden Heart City of Fairbanks. A delicious Regional Meal is served on board a deluxe dome railcar before our arrival in Alaska’s Northern Lights capital.

Travel deep into Denali National Park by school bus and search for moose, caribou, bear, wolves, and Dall sheep amongst a spectacular backdrop of valleys and mountains. This 6-8 hour tour is led by experienced driver guides, who provide a narrated history of the Park Road and the animals that call Denali home. Approx. duration: 6-8 hours

Optional: Husky Homestead

Visit with an Iditarod Champion! Step back from the crowds and join an intimate group for a personal tour of the homestead kennel of two-time Iditarod Champion Jeff King. Meet champion sled dogs, visit with puppies and see summer training in action. Two and a half-hour narrated kennel tour.

Day 5 - Fairbanks

This morning’s adventure sees us dig for insights into Alaska’s Gold Rush. ‘Dive into Culture’ with Fairbanks’ own Gold Daughters who will guide you through the process of panning for gold in real Alaskan paydirt. Then, board the Riverboat Discovery for further insights into the Gold Rush boom. Visit a recreated Athabascan Indian Village to learn about the culture of the Tanana Athabascans and indulge in the delicious flavours of a traditional salmon bake Regional Meal.

Day 6 - Valdez

We journey south to the port community of Valdez on Prince William Sound. As you carve your way through this rugged state along the Richardson Highway, Alaska’s oldest highway, you’ll encounter the snow-capped summits of the Alaska Range, expansive glaciers and views of the Trans Alaska Pipeline which parallels the highway. Stretch your legs during a brief stop at the Historic Rika Roadhouse, an important crossroads for travellers, and the Wrangell St. Elias Visitors’ Center, before arriving in Valdez.

Fly over a Glacier! Take a Knik Glacier tour and experience a glacier and wildlife adventure. Soar over towering Knik Glacier – At 25 miles long and 5 miles wide, it is one of Southcentral Alaska’s biggest and most spectacular glaciers. Approx. duration: 1.5 hours.

Optional: Beer Tasting – Big Swing Microbeers

Come experience the booming Anchorage craft beer scene in style as you join your knowledgeable ‘Hoperator’ for an off-the-beaten path tour of Anchorage full of sudsy and safe fun. Guests are introduced to some of Anchorage’s finest breweries, brewers, beers, and Alaskan characters on this behind the scenes look at the local craft brewing industry.

Optional: Helicopter Flightseeing – Glacier Dogsled

Enjoy a helicopter ride to a remote glacier. Drive your own sled-dog team on real snow. Stand on the runners or sit on the sled with the musher running the team. Includes a one hour shuttle to Knik, a 15 minute helicopter ride to Colony glacier, 1 hour dogsled tour on real snow with Iditarod musher, 15 minute helicopter flight back to Knik.

Day - Valdez

Delve into the heritage and culture of Valdez, the Copper River Basin and Prince William Sound during this morning’s visit to the Valdez Museum. Keep a keen eye out for seals, otters, sea lions and porpoises as you cruise around Prince William Sound, admiring the plunging ice cliffs of Columbia Glacier which have calved giant icebergs into the bay. Enjoy lunch against the backdrop of your wild surrounds before returning to Valdez, your home for a second night.

Optional: Stoney Creek Canopy Zipline Tour

During this three hour tour you will be traversing from one platform to the next via nine separate and exciting zip lines, three suspension bridges, a spiral staircase and a rappel while clipped in at all times from beginning to end – all amidst the beautiful Pacific Temperate Rainforest. Participants must be relatively physically fit for this active tour. Waiver required.

Day 8 - Anchorage

We begin our return journey to Anchorage this morning, crossing Thompson Pass, one of the snowiest places in Alaska. ‘Make A Difference’ during your afternoon stop at the Musk Ox Farm. Here you’ll join a Local Specialist for a guided tour to view the Arctic Musk Oxen and learn how this non-profit organisation promotes sustainable agriculture practice. Continuing your journey west, arriving in Anchorage later today where you’ll toast to new friends over a memorable Farewell Dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 9 - Kenai Fjords Cruise (via Seward)

We journey along the Scenic Seward Byway this morning to the port community of Seward. Our first stop is a ‘Make a Difference’ the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center, where a Local Specialist will reveal the role of this wildlife rehabilitation centre. Next up is a sightseeing cruise, including lunch, into the icy heart of Kenai Fjords National Park. Share the choppy waters with Humpback whales and glacial icebergs as you enjoy a lunch onboard.
