Days 3 - Churchill

Spend your first full day exploring the tundra and boreal forest of the Hudson Bay coastline in search of the majestic Polar Bear. Your driver/guide will lead an expedition to designated wildlife viewing areas where it is not uncommon to see Arctic Foxes, and Arctic Hares, camouflaged ptarmigan and if you’re lucky, the elusive Snowy Owl. You’ll travel on a custom built, spacious and comfortable tundra vehicle, equipped with a propane furnace, toilet facilities and a rear viewing deck for safe photography outside the vehicle.

Although the vehicle can accommodate up to 40 passengers, group sizes are limited to a maximum of 28 for comfort and convenience. You will depart the lodge early morning at 08:00 hrs after a hearty breakfast. On the evening of day four, you’ll enjoy a dog mushing tour, where you’ll have the chance to view the Northern Lights, or Aurora Borealis, overhead.

Hotel: Lazy Bear Lodge

Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner

Day 4 - Churchill

After wolfing down a hearty breakfast, you’ll enjoy a cultural and heritage tour, visit historic Cape Merry where the Churchill River spills into the bay with short hikes along the coastline with your group. It is not encouraged to head off walking alone due to bear danger. Then it’s on to the ‘Polar Bear Jail’. One way the citizens of Churchill care for their polar bear friends is to put them in `jail’.

When someone spots a Polar Bear too close to town, they call a special phone number, and the bear is humanely trapped and placed in the `Polar Bear Jail’ until it can be safely transported back to the wild. This is your last chance to spot these magnificent creatures up close and personal, but also to enjoy the Arctic wilderness area of Churchill.

Day 5 - Winnipeg

Today you will return to your tundra vehicle with your local guide for a final day of wildlife exploration through the beautiful Hudson Bay and Tundra region. Seek out more Polar Bears, Arctic Hares and camouflaged Ptarmigan at renowned gathering spots.

In the afternoon, you’ll transfer to the airport for your included flight back to Winnipeg. Upon arrival, the rest of your day is at leisure.
