Our Prices Include Unlimited kilometres, 24 hour roadside assistance, additional drivers, goods & service tax, insurance (excluding excess) and third party liability.
Not Included in the Prices Airport and ferry concession and after hour collection fees, road tolls, parking charges, accident excess reduction, fuel and optional extras such as baby seats and booster seats, young driver fees and one way fees where applicable. All extras are subject to government taxes and are payable locally.
Car Types shown are subject to availability and Hertz reserve the right to substituted with a similar model if necessary.
Satellite Navigation To help you find your way around, Hertz offers satellite navigation from $12.60 per day at most locations. Satellite navigation must be requested at the time of booking and paid for locally at the time of pick up.
Terms and Conditions
Driver Qualifications Drivers must be a minimum of 18 years of age (21 for groups F to K) and have held a valid driving licence for at least one year. Drivers under the age of 21 incur a surcharge of $20, including GST, per day. This is capped at 10 days in every 30-day rental.
The Rental When taking delivery of your car, you will be asked to sign Hertz’s own terms and conditions of hire making the rental subject to a direct contract between each driver and the car hire company. A credit card bond will be taken to cover additional costs such as fuel, damage excess and optional services (minimum $200). All major credit cards accepted. Cash deposits will not be accepted.
Restrictions and One Way Rentals The minimum rental period is 3 days in each island, including 1 way rentals, with the vehicle being dropped at the ferry or airport and a new vehicle collected within 5 hours at the next island. There is a fee of up to $51.75 for every airport/ferry pick up. One way rentals under 3 days incur a fee of $210.00. Car types shown are subject to availability and models may vary. Ferry terminal collections after 18:00 incur a fee of $57.50.
Vehicles may not be driven on the following roads:
Road to Macetown – Queenstown, Tasman Valley Road – Mount Cook, 90 Mile Beach – Northland and Skippers Road – Queenstown.
Damage Excess An excess of $4,500 applies to all accidents (Group J & K – $5,600) plus Goods and Service Tax. This can be reduced to nil by purchase of accident excess reduction locally at NZ$39 per day (Group J & K – $44) incl GST. Alternatively, the excess can be reduced to nil and may be prepaid in the UK at £18 per day (Group J & K – £20) or £24 including airport collection fees (Group J & K – £26).
