Your Day Tour

Following a transfer from your Dunedin hotel, board your Monarch Wildlife Cruises vessel M.V. Monarch and cruise the length of the beautiful Otago Harbour and experience unrivalled viewing of the exciting diversity of wildlife which abounds on spectacular Taiaroa Head; the only mainland nesting place for Northern Royal Albatross in the world. The peninsula is also home to NZ Fur Seals, dolphins, sea lions and a fascinating array of rarely seen ocean birds including other species of albatross, penguins and marine mammals in their natural environment.

After the cruise, enjoy a guided tour of the Yellow Eyed Penguin Reserve to see the rarest penguin in the world, found only on the south-east coast of New Zealand. A short bus trip over the farm takes small groups on to the reserve where a knowledgeable guide will lead participants on foot through a unique system of covered trenches into viewing hides. These hides allow access to the living areas and breeding grounds of this shy penguin, which provides the opportunity to witness and photograph undisturbed activity at extremely close range.

The tour concludes with a scenic drive along the picturesque Otago Peninsula.
