Catch your first glimpse of the famous New York skyline as your plane comes into land. Make your way to your chosen New York hotel to refresh, ready to explore the USA’s most iconic city.

To get around, you’ll have a 48 hour pass for the New York Hop-on Hop-off Bus, which stops at over 30 locations. Jump off at Bryant Park to see Times Square and go shopping on 5th Avenue, at Brooklyn Bridge to visit the 9/11 Memorial Museum, or Lafayette Street to grab lunch in Chinatown or Little Italy.

You will also receive a New York CityPASS, for entry to several of the city’s top attractions, including the Empire State Building Experience, Guggenheim Museum and American Museum of Natural History.

Welcome to the Caribbean! On arrival in San Juan, collect your hire car and head east to the Hyatt Regency Grand Reserve, your beachside home for the next five nights. It’s around a 35 minute drive.

You can choose from an Ocean View or Garden View Room, both spacious and a pleasant stroll through tropical gardens to the resort’s wonderful free-form swimming pool, sandy beach, restaurants and bars.

The Hyatt is the ideal location from which to visit El Yunque National Forest, where you can follow the Angelito Trail for a refreshing dip in the Río Mameyes, or enjoy an aerial view of the rainforest as you zipline through the treetops!

Likewise, a day on either Vieques or Culebra comes highly recommended. Both islands are accessible by ferry from Ceibra, or Culebra by catamaran on a day trip from Fajado, mooring by the stunning Flamenco Beach, with lunch and snorkelling equipment typically provided.

Hyatt Regency Grand Reserve

The colourful streets of Old San Juan are a joy to explore, with cafes and cocktail bars a plenty, in which it’s too easy to while away the afternoon.

Give yourself time to visit the Castillo San Felipe del Morro, which once protected the harbour, but now greets cruise ships that dock round the headland. In the grassy park outside, children (and grown ups) fly kites in the Caribbean breeze.

If you’d like stay in the Old Town itself, you can return your hire car and take a taxi to your hotel. If you’ll miss the beach too much, choose a hotel in Condado or Carolina instead, both a short drive into Old San Juan.
