This morning, take a tour of the Temples of Angkor, visiting three captivating temple sites: Angkor Thom, Ta Phrom and Angkor Wat.

Angkor Thom was the last capital of the Khmer Empire, and encompasses a sprawling network of temples. Witness the Elephant Terrace, the carvings and statues of the Terrace of the Leper King and the fascinating architecture of Bayon, with its characteristic face pillars.

Your next stop is enchanting Ta Phrom, that has largely been left untouched, meaning that it has become enveloped by the jungle. You may recognise it from its staring role in the Tomb Raider film.

After some lunch, you’ll visit Angkor Wat. Argued to be the largest religious building in the world, it was conceived by Suryavarman II, and took an estimated 30 years to build. It is believed that Angkor Way was used as a funeral temple for the king, and it has been continuously occupied by Buddhist monks. You’ll round of the day by watch an incredible sunset from the temple.

Gain an insight into daily life on Cambodia’s ‘Great Lake’. Tonle Sap Lake is the largest freshwater lake in South East Asia and the Tonle Sap Floating Villages are a thriving community. Central to the Cambodian fishing industry, it is also a key area for growing rice. Exploring by boat, you’ll float between the village’s homes and fish farms.

You can take your Tonle Sap tour in the morning or the afternoon, and spend the rest of the day exploring Siem Reap at your leisure. You may wish to take a cooking class, learning to cook Khmer dishes with local ingredients. Alternatively, have your mind blown at the Cambodian Circus, offering nightly shows in Siem Reap.
