At the heart of the Canadian Rockies, Jasper National Park is where the mountains feel wilder and taller. This guided tour takes you out of town and into Maligne Valley, a glacially carved corridor flanked by peaks, forest and the kind of open terrain where wildlife likes to roam. Elk, black bear, mountain goat, and bighorn sheep all reside in this landscape. Your on-board guide will not only help you spot wildlife but they will bring to life the history and ecology of the park throughout the journey.

Medicine Lake is an early highlight, a body of water with no visible outlet that drains entirely through an underground cave system each autumn: one of the largest known examples of its kind in the world.

The tour highlight is Maligne Lake, where a guided cruise carries you across the famously clear glacial water to Spirit Island, a sight that has appeared on countless postcards, but loses none of its impact in person. The cruise operates when weather permits. A revised tour can still be completed without the cruise.
