Fogo Island Inn has created an upscale retreat on the edge of the world; or in reality the edge of where Newfoundland’s remotest point of Canada gives way to the impressive force of the Atlantic Ocean. Situated in the Labrador current, there cannot be too many luxury hotels, where it is possible to watch icebergs gracefully float by your window.

The sharp corners of the hotel’s design and the harshness of the surrounding landscapes contradict the warm welcome and the cosy interiors found within the Fogo Island Inn. All of the 29 bedrooms and suites feature locally produced furniture and floor to ceiling windows, enabling guests to relax with unobstructed views of the ocean and the ever changing weather. There are even binoculars provided to watch whales or icebergs on their seasonal commutes.

If the hotel was a ship then the fine dining restaurant is the bow, with two walls made up of glass, so guests can continue to absorb the views whilst enjoying locally sourced ingredients for breakfast lunch and dinner. The locally caught seafood really could not be any fresher.

The hotel provides regular excursions out of the hotel in to the wilderness and in to the local community so guests can learn more about geology, fishing, wildlife, cooking or snowmobiling depending on the season. At the end of the day, guests can relax with a drink by the fire in the hotel bar or rejuvenate with a dip in the hotel’s heated rooftop hot tubs.

29 rooms and suites feature heated wooden heated floors and hand crafted quilts. All rooms have wi-fi and most rooms also feature wood burning stoves.
