You may like to arrive at least a day early to explore the city of Seattle. You can roam through Pikes Place Market and ascend the iconic Space Needle.
You cruise departs from the famous Fisherman’s Terminal, and as you depart you will have remarkable view of Puget Sound, Mount Rainier and the Seattle city skyline.
Once you board your ship, you will be greeted at a Welcome Reception, where there is a chance to meet the crew and your fellow passengers.
Day 2 – Anacortes, Fidalgo Island
Anacortes is a lovely waterfront town located on Fidalgo Island in Northwest Washington State. You will be able to explore the town on foot with a guide or independently.
Alternatively you may like to choose to join a guided hike along a coastal trail by the Salish Sea, to learn more about the flora and fauna of Deception State Park.
For the more adventurous you could opt for a jet boat ride to Deception Pass, and cross underneath the iconic bridge that spans the gorge.
Day 3 – Friday Harbor
Friday Harbor, on San Juan Island, is adorned with historic storefronts and turn of the century houses. You can take a leisurely ramble around this secluded coastal fishing village to explore and view indigenous native carvings.
To learn more about what you may see later on, we recommend a visit to the islands Whale Museum. Among the exhibits are the real skeletons of whales, dolphins, porpoises, seals, sea lions, and otters; models of killer whales and humpback whales; and a family tree of the resident orcas.
For the more active it is possible to join a guided kayak excursion to the serene Griffin Bay. You will paddle byby small islands and hidden coves looking out for harbour seals, river otters and bald eagles.
Day 4 – Cruising the Strait of Georgia
Enjoy a relaxing day of cruising along the Strait of Georgia, part of the Inside Passage,made up of sheltered waters protected by a series of island chains that stretch from Washington State to Alaska.
You will be able to view the ever-changing beauty of the Broughton Archipelago with its variety of marine mammals, including orcas, harbour seals, and sea lions.
As you travel you will be able to relax in the comfortable onboard lounges, or on the sun deck. You will also be able to join talks given by local naturalist and historians who will be able to add more colour to the scenery passing by.
Day 5 – Cruising the Queen Charlotte Strait
Today you will be sailing along the scenic Queen Charlotte Strait, a narrow stretch of water sandwiched between Vancouver Island and the mainland coast of British Columbia.
The strait has historically been an important route for exploration, trade, and navigation. It was explored by European explorers in the late 18th century, including Captain George Vancouver.
Hundreds of rivers flow into this waterway that is high in nutrients. This is perfect for the abundant fish populations which in turn make it a prime location for spotting orcas, humpback whales, sea lions, dolphins and a variety of seabirds.
Day 6 – The Inside Passage & Frederick Sound
As you head north you will cruise into the waters off the coast of Alaska.
Frederick Sound is situated between Kupreanof Island to the north and the mainland of Alaska. It runs for 40 miles and features rugged coastlines, lush temperate rainforests, and majestic snow-capped mountains. Icebergs from nearby glaciers can sometimes be seen floating in the sound, adding to the dramatic scenery.
Frederick Sound has been inhabited by Indigenous peoples, particularly the Tlingit, for thousands of years, however it was named by British explorer George Vancouver in honour of Frederick, Duke of York and Albany, during his expedition in the late 18th century.
Day 7 – Ketchikan
Located in the midst of the Tongass National Forest, Ketchikan, is truly the beginning of the last frontier, surrounded by a glacier-carved wilderness of snow-capped mountains, waterfalls, and wildlife.
In the town there are a variety of museums that share the cultural stories of the three main indigenous populations that have called South Alaska home; Tlingit, Haida and Tsimshian. In reality, animals may actually still outnumber people, as the surrounding forest is home to black bears, mountain goats, Sitka black-tailed deer, bald eagles, and more.
You can experience the beauty of the Ketchikan coastal community if you visit Potlatch Totem Park, a 19th-century native village located on historic Tlingit Native fishing grounds. Here you can enter multiple houses and see hand carved totem poles.
Day 8 – Wrangell & The Wild Bears of Anan
To the north of the town of Wrangell, the Stikine River reaches the ocean across a wide and shallow delta. Every year salmon return and swim from the river delta upstream to spawn. This salmon run attracts wildlife such as eagles, seals and both black and brown bears to feast on the fish.
You can choose to visit the Anan Bear and Wildlife Observatory to enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to view Alaskan wildlife up close. You will travel by a covered, heated boat on a beautiful journey to Anan in the protected waters between Wrangell Island and the Mainland. Upon arrival, you will be greeted by US Forest Service personnel, who will provide a brief orientation.
Next, an expert guide will lead you to Anan Creek’s observation deck, providing commentary about the local flora and fauna along the way. From the observation deck, you can view black and brown bears, bald eagles, and harbour seals in their natural habitat as they feed on spawning pacific salmon, just a few feet away.
Day 9 – Petersburg
As your ship docks in Petersburg, admire the surrounding mountains which rise to the sky, white and gleaming. Founded more than 100 years ago by Norwegian fishermen, Petersburg is an authentic Alaskan fishing town, with most families making their living from the sea.
You can explore this fishing town on a walk led and narrated by our local guide. You will be able to view the scenic waterfront adorned with boats, both new and weathered, and stroll along the historic streets lined with homes decorated with flowery Norwegian Rosemåling. Along the way, learn about the early settlers, commercial fishing, and the Norwegian heritage of Petersburg.
There are also options to try your hand at fishing, join a coach tour to Falls Creek and Blind Rapids or even climb aboard a floatplane for a bird’s eye view of Le Conte Glacier.
Day 10 – The Alaska Inside Passage
This day of cruising offers an array of scenic highlights as your small ship meanders the narrow channel of the Tracy Arm Fjord. Throughout the 25-mile journey, the waterway averages only about a mile wide, framed by steep vertical cliffs stretching more than 3,000 feet high.
Hundreds of waterfalls cascade down the cliffs and tumble into the water. The miraculous journey is further heightened as the ship arrives at the faces of the stunning twin Sawyer Glaciers that once combined to carve out this incredible waterway.
Day 11 – Glacier Bay National Park
Glacier Bay National Park offers an unparalleled opportunity to witness some of the most stunning natural landscapes and diverse wildlife in Southeast Alaska.
As your ship navigates through the bay, you’ll see towering glaciers, such as Margerie and Johns Hopkins Glaciers, calving icebergs into the pristine waters below. The park’s dramatic scenery includes rugged mountains, lush temperate rainforests, and deep fjords, creating a breathtaking backdrop for your journey.
Keep your eyes peeled for marine mammals like humpback whales, orcas, sea otters, and harbour seals, which are commonly seen in the bay’s nutrient-rich waters.

Day 12 – Haines
Nestled at the northern end of the Lynn Canal, the town of Haines appears to be enveloped by the steep mountains that rise up from the shoreline.
During your stop here you can explore the town and meet the locals, choose to kayak across Chilkoot lake, or visit the local distillery to taste some whiskey and other spirits.
We also recommend following one of the local naturalists in an excursion to the “Valley of the Eagles”. The valley is hope to six different wildlife habitats: ocean, estuary, river, lake, muskeg, and rainforest. There is potential to view a wide variety of wildlife in the valley, including brown bears, bald eagles, whales, seals, and river otters.
Day 13 – Skagway
Located at the northernmost point of the Inside Passage, the small town of Skagway became known as the “Gateway to the Yukon”. It grew rapidly as 100,000 adventurous Americans travelled north in hopes of striking it rich. You can learn all about this amazing story at the National Park Service’s Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park.
You can experience the breathtaking White Pass & Yukon Route Railroad. This historic train journey, which was originally completed in 1900, offers stunning views of rugged mountains, cascading waterfalls, and deep gorges, tracing the Klondike Gold Rush route from Skagway to the Yukon.
Day 14 – Arrival into Juneau
For the best views around Juneau head to the Mount Roberts Aerial Tramway. Reaching an elevation of 1800 feet, the ride provides stunning views of the city, Gastineau Channel, and surrounding landscapes. Once at the top, visitors can explore several hiking trails of varying difficulty, or you can visit the Mountain House visitor centre that includes a nature centre with displays about the local wildlife and ecosystems.
Back in downtown Juneau you can wander through charming streets filled with shops offering local arts and crafts, jewellery, and souvenirs. You can also take a tour of the Alaskan Brewing Company, to learn more about the brewing process and sample a variety of their craft beers.
Day 15 – Farewell from Juneau
Breakfast is served onboard, then you can spend some time exploring the impressive collection of museums, gardens and shops in the heart of Alaska’s capital.
You could choose the complementary transfer to the airport to continue your Alaska holiday or return home. Alternatively you may like to spend some more time in Juneau, exploring the Glacier Gardens and the Brotherhood Bridge.
