Seattle is a relaxed waterfront city framed on each side by Puget Sound and the Cascade Mountains. Recognisable by its iconic Space Needle, Seattle has a thriving food scene, and rich music and coffee culture. As the perfect gateway to the Pacific Northwest, Seattle offers an exciting blend of attractions, scenic neighbourhoods and easy access to some of Washington State’s most spectacular natural landscapes in your motorhome.

After your flight you may wish to relax, or use the facilities at your hotel. Alternatively you may prefer to take a short stroll along the waterfront and watch the sunset before dinner.

Welcome to Seattle

On arrival into Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, pass through security and collect your bags, before transferring to your hotel in downtown Seattle.

Seattle is a relaxed waterfront city framed on each side by Puget Sound and the Cascade Mountains. Recognisable by its iconic Space Needle, Seattle has a thriving food scene, and rich music and coffee culture. Perhaps start today with a coffee at the original Starbucks, then cross the road to the lively Pike Place Market, where the aroma of fresh coffee and baked goods fills the air as you browse colourful produce stalls, artisan crafts and watch the famous fishmongers at work. From here, stroll down to the waterfront for sweeping views across Elliott Bay, perhaps stopping at the piers to watch ferries come and go or enjoy a casual lunch by the water.

Continue on foot to Pioneer Square, Seattle’s historic heart, where beautifully restored brick buildings and leafy squares tell the story of the city’s origins, before heading to the Seattle Centre to see the iconic Space Needle and nearby cultural attractions.

End the day with a gentle walk through a neighbourhood such as Belltown or Capitol Hill, or along the harbour as the sun sets, soaking up the city’s relaxed yet creative atmosphere.

The route takes you through the orchard country around Pateros, where fruit stands dot the roadside in season, and past the confluence of the Methow and Columbia Rivers.

As you approach Chelan, the landscape opens up with rolling hills giving way to glimpses of the shimmering lake stretching into the distance. This long, glacier-fed lake is a highlight of the region, carved deep into the mountains and stretching for over 50 miles.

Arrive by early afternoon, set up camp along the shore, and spend the evening relaxing by the water. Take a lakeside walk as the golden light paints the surrounding hills, or dip your toes in the refreshing glacial water.
